3-D testing tools

hi there
here's a link to the 3-D audio testing utilities: http://kx.maincore.nl/dsound3d.rar

note: the EAX functionality is not supported at the moment (but the tools should report EAX1.0/2.0 support)

eax10test.exe: a simple 2-D -like test
EAX2Show.exe: a more sophisticated test which allows to change DirectSound 3-D parameters (as well as EAX 2)
EAXPanel.exe: not so useful at the moment (will be used later for EAX2 testing)
Play3DSound.exe: sample utility from Microsoft DirectX SDK

-- these tools are bundled with EAX 1.0, 2.0 and Microsoft DirectX SDKs. you can download their full versions from Creative labs and Microsoft sites: developer.creative.com, www.microsoft.com

RightMark3Dsound.exe: a tool bundled with RightMark 3-D benchmark (http://audio.rightmark.org/)

note: we respect copyright law -- by downloading the files you agree to be bound by Creative Labs / Microsoft / iXBT license agreements. also, we provide these files without the actual SDKs in order to minimize download size. in no event should this download be considered as 'warez'. all trademarks and software rights are hereby recognized as owned by their respective holders/owners

HumanRes is on a distinguished road

Nothing to report

Thanks for the tools.

I tested a bit with them but can't reproduce any abnormalies i had with unreal tournament.

Maybe we come to compareable results if you (Eugene) could instruct us what exactly we should test (e.g. parameters in EAXPanel).

>> what exactly we should test

not an easy question

EAXPanel is useless at the moment
EAX2Show is a better choice:
you will need to test the following parameters:
head position, distance factor, doppler factor, rolloff factor, 'deffered option' flag
also:
looped/unlooped samples, cone angles, frequency, inner/outer volume, min/max distance, position, velocity; also try different movement modes

don't forget to load more than one audio files and test them simultaneously

most of the settings require some explanation -- please review the microsoft site for details... http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...ound_entry.asp and http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...tm/3dsound.asp
