pitch issue in battlefield1942
everything works fine, expect that all sound samples (not music, or the sound of the intro videos) are too high pitched... a sound that should be one second log is more like 0.2-0.3 seconds.
I'm new to these drivers, so I've probably missed some kind of easy setting somewhere.... my question is which one is it? ![]() (I'm not getting any clicks or other sound artefacts from what I can tell, its just the pitch part that bugs me.) I'm using an audigy2 card under windows 2003 standard server. |

they don't under win2k with creative drivers.
I can't compare to other drivers in 2k3 since I havent found any others that work. edit: update! running dxdiag and lowering hardware acceleration for sound fixed the pitch bit, but now sounds are choppy, and often cut off. hardware accel was set to 1 on a scale from 0 to 4, lowering to 0 made the sound test in dxdiag work, and fixed the pitch issue, though it created others. if I set it to 1-4, and try to run a test, dxdiag tells me that my sound card does not support hardware buffering, and that sound will only play back from software buffers. is this something I can fix with a setting, or is it a limit in the drivers? i haven't had that occur… kX requires h/w accel at full
try using winxp creative drivers and see if the same thing happens

well, if you can get me an installer for those, I might.
creative rebuilt their site again, and all I can find is some new activeX/java/whatever thingy that tells me my drivers are up to date... when I had no drivers installed whatsoever. when I choose to update manually, I can only find update files, not the actual installer. they dont support windows 2003 yet, which is why I chose KX drivers. sadly I seem to have lost my installation cd so I cant use that either.. ( I did find the one that came with my awe64 but I figured that wouldnt work )also, I've noticed that turning accel off in dx made mp3 playback via directsound in winamp sound horrible, though that can be circumvented by using wave out instead. |
