AC3 Passthru On SB0102 ChipRev7?

I'm running KX 3537 with an SB Live! 5.1 Gamer card.
My sound system, Altec Lansing ADA880, takes a solitary COAXIAL SPDIF input which the SB Live! is connected to via its "normal jack->RCA thing" which plugs into 'Center' on the back of the card.

My searching on this forum hasn't found me any concrete answers as to whether my card should be able to output a 5.1 AC3 signal from a DVD or AVI through this single COAXIAL SPDIF line!! I understand what is required here is 'AC3 Passthru' which seems to be supported now on my pre-Audigy SB Live! in the latest drivers; but I dont know how to work it (what exactly are AC3 buffers?), or what settings I need to make in DVD software or if I need anything extra (i.e. i'm not sure if I need something like AC3 Filter etc.).

I know this never worked with the Creative drivers, but I do know for a fact that a 5.1 Dolby Digital signal can be carried on that single digital line to my sound system, be it from an old PCI DVD encoder card SPDIF-out, or a converted Xbox TOSLINK into SPDIF out; however can it now be done from my SBLive! thanks to the power of KX? At the moment all I can get is standard 2.0 PCM, which my sound system turns into surround using some sort of pro logic-esque system I cannot get it to output the signal containing 5.1 data to the SPDIF-out.

Some help with getting this working would be great. Below are my details.

currently ac-3 passthrough doesn't quite work on 10k1 boards

Any idea when it will be implemented, will it be in the next driver version and do you know when eugene will have this available? I would be willing to help in beta testing AC3 Passthru implementation on 10k1 boards if it helps!

the next beta version should be out between end of this month and august - depending on how much time eugene has
