Hi there!
I have a 2.1 speaker set(2 speakers to the subwoofer and plug to the sound card, only one socket of card used) and SB Live! 5.1 . I would like to know if the "Use subwoofer output" works with my speakers or not? Thanks. |

So called 2.1 speakers are actually 2.0 = simply stereo, because they do not have a separate subwoofer channel like the 5.1 speaker sets do. Hence there is no existing connection to the cards subwoofer output that could be used.

I think That is about correct....Without this seperate input for the Sub...your AMP on your speakers does the filtering. I think Bass redirection only works with discrete outputs. As in a 5.1 set. Try it out let us know....

Actually it sounds the same.
Both have bass, subwoofer working. So it is better to leave it off? Any hazard leaving it checked? |

You can turn it on or leave it off...it isn't sending signals to anything....it only works when you have a input for a sub...which you don't. See on a 5.1 set..like I have...I can adjust what frequency the cut off point is for the sub, I usually set it to about 100 Hz...gives nice low rumble...but in your case Leave it off.....hope that helps.

I have another question!
Does the surrounder have any use with my setup(my card and speakers) or it will be the same without it? |

Actually, I don't think you do need it...Your talking about maybe replacing it with a pro-fx plugin correct?...Well since you don't have surround sound..I would say the surrounder module wouldn't be doing anything. So if you want to get rid of it go ahead...
