Direct Sound 3D

Using kx-drivers for quite a few months now, and i'm quite happy with them, soundquality is definately better than the creative drivers on my SB Live! 5.1 (SB0060).

However I have to say that Sound in Direct Sound 3D Games (not talking about EAX!) could be better. Often sounds are positioned wrongly or some sounds which are there with creative drivers are missing with kx-drivers and things like this... Would like to know how much of the Direct Sound 3D implementation is done in the driver, are there features which are used by creative drivers and not by kx drivers?

Is there still some development in Direct Sound 3D part of the kx-drivers, i mean the hardware accelerated part?

Keep up the good work!

the sound in half-life2 seems to be ok (or gfx and physics are so good i didnt notice bad soundquality..) but in CS-Source which is a game on the hl² engine, the sound with kx drivers is crap, i dont think that it s normal in the game

sad that kx drivers cant do the gaming stuff that creative drivers does. kx drivers are so much better over all ..

Thumbs Up!

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/images/s...big%20grin.gif I use KX driver for several months too, really love it. Better quality and better performance for game. never try Creative drive again. LOL

A tip for gamer: tune Timbre in DSP, set to burN' eM. It's really great!

SURROUNDED PROBLEM FOR PLAYING LIVE and RECORDING

I m a new owner of kx drivers and have seen that they do a very great jjOB AND VERY MORE FLEXIBLE AS THE AUDIGY PLATINUM DRIVERS

I m playing guitar with a Vox tonelab,(rprocessor modular effects) which is connected to the Optical spdif in.(try also with the line in)

I remark that the way you configure speakers settings and surround settings made a big difference sounding between differents stats when I play live....

both with kx drivers and creative drivers

the best configuration I MUST used with creative drivers is to set speakers in headphones mode and activate the cmss 3D(Creative Multi Speaker Surround),

without this option, and in other speakers statement (2.1,4.1,5.1) the sound look noisy and synthetic .

So my question is which settings should I used with kx drivers to get best results and how do I simulate the "cmss 3d" to retrieve my best sound
in any way the speakers are?

System Specs

CMSS is a simple upmix of 2 channel sound. kX does this in its own way, or you can try the prologica effect

Well, lack of some sounds, or bad positioning is that what I can live with, but adding distortion on all engine sounds in Operation Flashpoint and totaly bad voice modulation in the same title is just disappointing. I can always turn off hardware acceleration, but I won't have surround sound after that.
It looks like this game is making engine sounds, by heavy modulating base sounds pitch level, but in kX it's totaly distorted, mislocated and loud. It would be cool if this could be fixed. Not a priority though.
