Hi!

I'm brandnew, I'm from germany, can't speak english as well as some other people here and ... I have a problem

I connected my Yamaha-Receiver to my SB Live! 5.1 Digital over analog.

I installed the latest kX-driver and changed all options to 5.1 (In Windows and kX)

When I use the Test-applet I can hear FR, C, FL, RR, RL, Sub -> okay

When I want to listen to winamp or playing some 3D-Games I have only Stereo-sound without sub.

I don't know where the problem is

I use WinXP Pro + Service Pack 2

Some weeks ago:

I tried the configuration which I wrote above the first time with the SB Live!-drivers. The same problems like today ...

Then:

1. Installed kx-drivers -> same problems
2. deinstalled sb-driver -> Woohoo! 5.1 works!

I used: WinXP Pro + Service Pack 1

But then I bought some new hardware (Abit AV8 third eye, 3500+ winchester,...), format c: and installed xp with sp2. Then the same problem. Okay, dann I tried the actions i did these weeks ago... nothing.


SO WHAT TO DO?

Plz help me!! I'm a surround-junkie!

In the End i did the following:

I deinstalled a Winamp Plug-In named "Writer" or so .. and now I have 5.1 Surround in games and music... but this is a bit confusing, isn't it?

I think what you needed to do is set the winamp to use direct sound..then set direct sound to use KX....if it defaults to the wave mapper than you usually just get 2 channels...

But.. why is a winamp plug-in needed for surround sound in games, music and dvd? Since I deinstalled this small plug-in everything is allright
