Remove center channel sound

Hi guys

I have been using the KX driver for some time, but without using any advanced features. I installed the KX driver to get TeamSpeak to work better, and it actually works much better now.

I do not know much about sound drivers, or what this system can do for me. I have been reading in this feature to find a special feature witch but haven’t found it. Let me describe my problem:

I’m playing Battlefield1942 and sometimes need to disable the sound coming to the center speaker. This is not a problem if I use my 5.1 surround system, since I can just disable it in the output dialog, but if I use the 2.1 speaker setting I can’t disable the sound to the center channel. The reason for using the 2.1 setting is that I use headphones.

I was hoping it was possible to remove the sound to the center channel so I could only hear the sound to forward and back speakers, and send it to my headphones.

Hope someone can help me here.

headphones is only 2.0, there for you are only getting two channels?

but to disable the center channel disconnect the Center on the surrounder in the DSP

I have tryed that, but it seems like there is only comming signals out from fL and fR, because of the headset configiration. I have also tryed to remove some of the input signals, but it seems like it's only the stereo(L&R) that is transmitting the sound.
For me it seems like the xrouting get it's sound from Wave(L&R). I don't know what kind of format the WAVE sound is encodet with, but I think I need some sort of decoder to 5.1 and reencode to 2.0, but then only use the channels I need.
Is this posible?

You can always disconnect center channel, and connect it to fL and fR (You'll need mono mix because of C - fL to fL and C - fR to fR).

System Specs

In Windows control panel/Sounds and Audio devices for Win XP, set up for 5.1 speakers and keep it that way.

Using the default kX DSP, open kX Surrounder and set to 2.1 Speakers.
Turn Surround Off. If you get any sound from any other channel/speaker/s, that means you have copy or surround on. Turn it off.

You should hear sound only from your F/l and F/R speakers now. If the game is in 5.1 it all will be mixed to come out of the F/L and F/R speakers (That's headphones if you have them pluged into that jack).

If that doesnt answer your question, can you be more clear about what youre asking?

Are you trying to say in a 5.1 sound field, you want everything going to the headphones (which is the F/L and F/R) except the Center channel mix?

You dont want any of the center channel to be heard in your headphones? If this is what you mean, do as dj_stick says above cause that would exclude the center channel from the mix, and you will not hear all audio carried on the center channel (that's mostly dialog and some effects).
