Optical AC3 Input Delay
I am using my computer to decode the optical AC3 signal from the cable box which is then outputed to a 5 speaker system through the analog outs. I have an audigy 2 platnium sound card and am using the kx driver's ac3 decoding for the optical input.
The signal is significantly delayed, 300-500ms behind the image. I think there has been a similiar, although less pronounced, delay with movie playback too. Is there a setting or anything that could be causing this? If there isn't a way to get rid of this delay, I will just have to find a different way to setup my system. |

the delay may becaused by the actual decoding process
your DVD cable box should have delay options for video to sync av, if not try another decoding device if possible

the driver uses WinMM subsystem for decoding ac-3 input, which is relatively slow. re-implementing it via DirectSound might improve performance, although we currently have no plans re-writing this code.
