ATI 9600 AIW and MMC 9.08 sound distortion and loosing Channel settings

Hello - I need your help with my used ATI 9600 AIW

1. it intermittently 'looses' the sound, only very distorted sound occurs, this most times is curred by a reboot, but fatal, if I going to remotely boot my machine to schedule TV-recording

2. It looses the Channel setting in MMC. I am able to adjust the channel setting in MMC ( I have 34 Channel under PAL-B, Germany, Hamburg) once set, I can see these settings in the MMC, as well as in the registry under key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\MultiMedia\Features\TV\Tuner
but after a while (rebooted the machine) , these settings are disappearing from registry, as well as the channel settings in MMC. They even disappear from the channel favorite list (not marked any more) as well as from the visual selection list.

Do you have any clue, what is wrong here ?

I'd say its the digital WDM's. You might try going waaaaaaaay back to say Catalyst 4.10 and try those drivers to see if it helps

I did follow above suggestion and used my original CDs just to install the Device Driver and the WDM Driver. Ontop I installed the MMC 9.08 english . I plan to upgrade with localized version (Euro-German) later.

I didn't install the CC.
I have the impression, that the picture quality was better with the newest ATI drivers.

So question is, if it is possible to mix the new Video Drivers with the old Audio drivers.
Which Audio Driver is reponsible for the digital/Analog selection ?
Theatre Audio ? audio Crossbar or TV Tuner ?

the versions I am using now are:
ATI WDM Rage Theatre Audio: Date 13.08.2003 Version: 6.14.10.6207
ATI WDM Rage Theatre Video: Date 13.08.2003 Version: 6.14.10.6207

The problem with the disappearing registry/tuner settings are still present , is there any idea, what could cause this ?

You can put the drivers in with the older WDM's but it is a long and laborious project.

For a good read on it look at the "Come on ATI..." sticky thread in this forum

This did it:
Removed all ATI stuff from PC ( with Cat uninstaller and Driver Cleaner Pro)
Removed the ATI OEMxx.inf from WINNT\INF
Installed the 6.2 WDM Driver
Installed the 6.2 DD Driver
Rebooted
Exchanged the Driver for ATI WDM Rage Theatre Video NSP to ATI WDM Rage Theatre Video (SP)
There is a separate folder in the Driver unpack directory (C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-2_xp-2k_wdm_30152\WDM_SP) containing the right Driver, which gives us back the ability to select the Audio Input line.

The installed Driver is 6.14.10.6246 dated 08/03/2004
MMC 9.08 runs like a champ now !

TV on demand being forced on, incredible amount of bugs, worse than 9.08 overall.....

I wouldn't like to try that beast - enable MMC 9.08 to work the way it should (at least for TV . FM Radio does not work any longer - but I don't use it) was hard and time consuming enough.
There are better things to do in live than testing out ATI's untested drivers.

I thought this was fixec - but it is not.

50% of the time, when my PC is restarted - the sound of TV is distorted .
I have to reboot, and occasionally the sound is back again.
