ASUS 9600XT doesn't capture

Hi All,

I have ASUS 9600XT with VIVO.

The card captured for about 2 years without any problems(I used the original drivers - Catalyst 3.1).

Last week, the card gave me an error in device manager - "ATI WDM RAGE THEATER VIDEO" (code 10).

Things I tried in order to solve the problem:
1) Uninstall & Reinstall the original drivers - didn't help
2) Uninstall & Reinstall the latest ATI drivers - didn't help
3) Uninstall & Reinstall the latest Omega drivers - didn't help

In each and every step I uninstalled the drivers using RegCleaner in Safe Mode.

I didn't change anything in my hardware/software.

My Computer's specification:
OS: Win XP Pro (SP2) - fully patched
CPU: Intel P4 2.8Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB
Mother Board: GigaByte 8IK1100 (Rev. 2)

My computer has the latest Chipset drivers.

I checked for IRQ conflicts in Device Manager but there aren't any.

I took the card to a lab it worked without any problem.

I've been looking for a solution in the Internet but I couldn't find any.

What could be the problem? and how can I solve it?

Hey HomerJ - welcome to the DH forums.

Try the WDM install kbuzzard suggests at the end of the stickied post titled "Suddenly TV is protected???" in this forum.

What drivers did you try to install? Did you use Driver Cleaner?

Hi Guys,

Answers for your questions: (Drivers I tried to installed)
1) Original ATI drivers - Catalyst 3.1
2) Latest ATI drivers - Catalyst 6.3
3) Omega Drivers 3.8.231

For each driver I use the corresponding WDM driver.

Also, i used Driver Cleaner in each uninstall (not Reg Cleaner)

I tried to install the driver that you mentioned in the thread - still, no success.

The 5.10 drivers worked at the lab (my card with a different computer) but wasn't working on my computer.

Is it a driver issue?

Since the problem started suddenly (after two years) I think it's a hardware failure, I hope I can replace the card...

Could be BUT do you remeber adding any type of applications before the issue popped up?

I don't think its a failure if it works good in another machine.

I would say chipset drivers but you've updated them

No if it works in another machine then it's a issue with the other MOBO or the config.

You could always sell that card and get a PCI TV Wonder and see how that goes... might have better luck

I got a new hard disk, did clean install of Windows and still the same
F******G problem.

I don't know if it is the card or the computer.
I will try to get another card for testing.

If someone has more ideas...

Try a different card in the same PC and if that also gives up the ghost you know its the PC
