HDTV Wonder questions
Well I saw the HDTV wonder listed for a few months on some canadian retailers, but ATI claims it does not work in Canada. With the HDTV antenna, I am getting free HDTV? but the card is listed not being able to recieve HD cable broadcasts (which makes sense). now to my main questions to owners of the HDTV Wonder.
1. how is the clarity of the broadcasts, is it poor since its over the airwaves or like true HDTV? 2. can you hook up component video devices to run through it (IE a ps2 or HD terminal) 3. if you live in canada (preferably in the toronto area), how are the channels and the lineup in your area? I am a complete n00b when it comes to this crap so bear with me |

I live in Mississauga but we get the same kind of TV as Toronto and IMO its not worth it. The only way to get ANY HDTV (you won't get it over the air waves) is to get it through Bell Express Vu or Rogers Digital cable, both of which are kinda expensive unless you REALLY like seeing hockey in HDTV. The only other things that are possibly HDTV are some docco's on the CBC and the odd Pay Per View movie.
But using those means you need an additional cable box/satelite signal receiver and then that means you can't use the remote control 'coz of the box and that makes the PVR useless etc... Sorry to seem so down on it, but it pretty much makes 0 sense to me for the PC at this moment unless you only want to record hockey (which is always HDTV for some reason) |

Oh you're over that way now. I'm near Lake Ontario, at Southdown and Truscott in the Clarkson/Lorne Park area. Exact same except for channel 11 which is the communiy crap channel anyway.
And yes it'll double as a regular TV wonder |

1) Yes- like true HDTV, you'd never know it was over the air
2) Well it has a composite in allowing you t take video from something that has a video out and a right and left audio output. For example I have digital cable and the digital signal is a clearer image. So I can hook up to my set top box and watch what ever channel I’m watching on my TV. But it clearer or cleaner image then the regular analog cable. Though on analog cable I can watch what ever channel I want….My cable box has hundreds of channels hence the way I tried hooking it up that way. I would assume you could hook any other device up but can’t say for sure. 3) USA sorry…. But the USA is specially switching over by 2009 by FCC mandate so its growing fast here…. 4) Yes you can watch regular analog over the air analog channels
