At this stage if a total format and reinstall of everything doesn't fix it I'm boycotting ATI. Totally. Which would be a shame since I've been using ATI forever.

Your doing a reinstall? why don't you just go back to a version that does work great. For me it seems to be the 6.2 -9.08 combo, BUt I can get 6.4 and 9.14 to work also with 6.5 WDM's I would say I am getting the hang of it. It is really a shame though that we need to become ATI driver experts just to get a working card..lol - I will admit though Mine did owrk out of the box, if it didn't I would have returned it.

Not going back, shouldn't have to....why put out the latest software on their site if it doesn't work, y'know?

Yup, this "protected" thing doesn't look like parental control to me, I have only installed the TV, stripping all the others MMC apps, and I can't recall having installed the parent control, and highly doubt I did...
I'd rather say its some sort of a badly implemented DRM scheme for some future TV feature, or something alike, in order to block access to certain broadcast or inputs... Had I been really bitter, I would have said they are trying implement some piece of code to block other TV reading programs to capture from the device when not authenticated, and their own TV program is broken when trying to capture in 480i... It's just a real shame that upgrading to newer driver broke the normal functionning of the TV, I guess this isn't news for ATI, but still... It pisses me off, I should have bought an nvidia and a tv-only card, instead of that aiw. If anyone has a solution, or is an IDA whiz, try something !

OK, here's where I am I have been using 9.14 for awhile with no protected banner..BUT I was messing around the other day and I got it to show up on MINE! so I am methodical and I can remeber what I did..So I am on the case and I should have it figured out soon. I will keep you posted..Until then use a older version..

Well I just did a reinstall earlier of the software batch an I am running 6.4 Drivers 6.5 WDM's and 9.14 MMC, so it was giving me the Protected banner but I removed it cleaned it out and reinstalled and it's fine. I think if people are having issue with this just roll back to a version that works for them. Besides the only way to use the older NSP or SP drivers is to use older versions. If it was the Stream driver wouldn't it show up on everybodies? I think it might have something to do with the DAO...what is that all about?

It wouldn't be DAO, thats nothing to do with anything and actually isn't needed.
I'm sure its the drivers tripped by the MMC though, it just makes too much sense and I'm sick of going back to old versions of stuff just to get what I paid for ! |

I didn't think it was. Ok I was having that Protected banner coming up after I did a clean out and reinstall. So I cleaned everything really good and reinstall MMC and now everything is fine. So I guess if guys are getting this protected banner then do a reinstall. I don't like seeing that and I am wondering HOW and why it comes up?!

I think this warrants an email to ATI.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the TV wonder's use the AVS_T200 stream drivers and if so do they get the protected crap too?

H3X, SO you are thinking the Protected Banner is from the AT200 stream drivers? - Very posible..what exactly sets it off then? I had it come up then I did a reinstall and now it's fine..
I would like to know also, because if it's something weird I will roll everything back..I don't want anything like that on my system..Especially if I don't know about it. Has anybody asked ATI what exactly this is? Maybe if a Macrovision stream is sent through it'll come up? I'll try that out.. |
