Video Capture Problems
I've been gaming with my at1 9800 pro AIW for a year and a half but I just got interested in the video capture side and I'm having some problems with the set-up. When I try to record with the digital recorder it will crassh some of the time. Half hour shows seem to work fine but twice I tried to capture longer shows and had problems both times. Once the system crashed completly. The other time the tv function stopped working and wouldn't work again untill I rebooted. This will also happen sometimes when I use the PC check. I'll get black snow for all the channels untill I reboot and the it works fine. I have the drivers installed that came with the card. When I run PC check it says "DMA for hard drive operation may not be enabled" (Reader: SD, CF, SM, MS). I checked in device manager and it says that the drives are DMA enabled. I see a WDM integrated driver on the ati site and don't remeber installing anything like that. My tech know how isn't very so any remedial suggestions would be appreciated.

1. Don't worry about ATI PC Check.
2. What drivers are you currently running? 3. Did it EVER work before or is this a first time go with it? |

Ok. I stripped everything down and then reinstalled the drivers. WDM first, then display drivers (the most recent from ati.com), and then the catalyst package with MMC (7.0 I think) and the rest and it has been working ok for the last 24 hrs. This is the first time I've used these features on the card. The only problem I have now is the remote. When I boot up I get the following message:
ATIRW.exe - unable to locate component. This function failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. I tried to uninstall and then reinstall a couple of times but no luck. 1) How can I fix this? any suggestions? 2) Is it worth it to update to the following on the ATI website: MMC 9.13, DAO/MDAC, DVD encoder and decoder, and Catalsy Control Center 6.4? Will these updates help it run smoother with less problems? Thanks. |

If you're using an old MMC and a new Remote Wonder driver I suspect thats why you're having that issue. I personally wouldn't say its worth updating everything if what you have is working fine for you... because as many of us know updating the software can bork a completely working install.

I tried installing both the remote wonder drivers that came with the card and the updated drivers on the ati.com. Niether one seem to get the remote to work. I think I'll have to try something else but I have no idea what that might be. Any suggestions?

I would try installing the remote with what came on the CD if you didn't already try that.
Other than that you could try completely unplugging the remote, running driver cleaner for the RW files, then reinstall the drivers and then plug it back in |
