Hi all, I could really use some help. I'm having MCE installed on a custom built system, I'm not having them install the card, I'm doing it myself because of all the conflicts I've read. Pretty decent system, 1 gig memory, 120 gig sata drive, intel motherboard and processor.
Here's my questions, can anyone tell me what software I should use to install??? ATI's site is very confusing, should I use ATI or Catalyst Drivers? I don't want to install the MMC because that is what I'm reading conflicts with MCE. So this is what I figured out and hope someone can tell me if I got it right, before I try installing this card. First use the Catalyst Display Driver only Use WinDVD as the Decoder and Use ATI's Windows XP Media Center Encoder - It says on the ATI Website that: This Encoder contains PVR and capture functionality for ATI TV Tuners and All-in-Wonder® Cards. It is required for fully functionality of myTV within Windows XP Media Center Edition. The Encoder also allows you to run Windows XP Media Center Edition with an All-in-Wonder card without ATI Multimedia Center™. Is that all I should install? Any direction will be greatly appreaciated! Thanks |

You want the display driver AND the WDM drivers, and you'll want the Catalyst Control center so just get the complete package and you should be good to go

Installing AIW x600 Pro with MCE
Thanks for your response,
I really wanted to avoid installing the Catalyst or ATI control centers, this system is for my sister and it will make it too confusing for her, I want the card simply to work through MCE only if possible. There is no gameing done on this computer, so I don't think all that software is necessary. I figure the less software for Microsoft to fight with the better. Can you tell me what the WDM drivers are for? |

WDM are for the tuner and whatnot so you'll need it.
You'll also want the CCC for the video deinterlacing configuration et. all. To maintain full functionality you need what you said plus what I said. |
