trying to OC AIW9600 n/p (for BF2) any help?

PC> Asus A7n266-vm, AMD Athalon xp2000(1.67ghz), 1gig Kingston valuram, ATI AIW 9600 n/p (AGPx4)

I've been trying to OC my AIW 9600 non-pro for best performance (for BF2) and was looking for some pointers. I've read through pages of threads on various forums and done a little OC testing w/ new Omega ATI OC tool, d/l ATI OC utility, and been using 3dMark03 to test. I currently have my card set to 400mhz core/ 230mhz mem.

With ATI tray tool bench results were: 850.99
With 3dMark03 got score of around 3300 (I think)

When I tried BF2 I joined an empty server and was flying a heli and got some "black ground" patches but I think it was because I tired to use AA and shadowing settings when normally(default settings for vid card) I wouldn't. Other than that no problems except heat!
Can anyone inturpret these scores for a noob? (I believe in ever-noobness as there is always more to learn) Or maybe help point me in a good direction? Thx in advanced.

P.S. any clue what "too" hot is for this card? It runs between 38-48 Celsius (w/no extra cooling just lots of fans)when testing w/ 3dmark03 and BF2 . good/bad?

Temperatures are good.

3300 is fine for a 9600 don't expect too much more out of it.

I'll assume your 2000+ is a Palomino from the temperatures and suggest not overclocking it, Palomino's run hot enough as it is and you won't get much headroom out of it

As long as you've got the latest chipset drivers and you've made sure the video drivers are OK, short of spending a little money on the thing you won't get too too much more out of it.

One thing I could suggest is to put the RAM 1:1 with the FSB, most boards prefer that (except KT400 - KT600's). But I wouldn't try to OC the RAM.

Actually if you wanna get into it, you could try unlocking the CPU (easily done for Palomino's) then start wailing on the mobo and get the FSB and RAM up then OC the CPU as high as it will go. But that requires having a spare machine incase it all goes wrong
