Has T200 Stream Replaced all the WDM Drivers?
On my AIW 9600 I installed the latest CAT 6.6 drivers and then installed the newest MMC 9.14
This was done AFTER uninstalling all the ATI stuff and deleting folders/directories having anything to do with ATI. Then I used CCleaner to clear up the Registry and also to Delete all junk files from my system. (This is my 'other' computer. It uses Windows XP Home completely updated.) Well, as I stated in the other thread (re: MMC 9.14) I could only get the TV app to start up the first time. When I closed it, it would not open again with the popup error "Could not start TV....." So, I noticed in my Device Manager under Sounds, Video, and Gaming that there are no longer any WDM devices listed. Only the T200 Streaming device. Does ATI then, indicate that there are no longer any WDM drivers needed? I'm trying to figure out what went south on this newest package? |

The T200 is more a switch to a unified thing... I believe it still complies with the WDM specifications because the T200 stream driver is a WDM device driver.... what I don't get is why they did that. I think it makes adding DRM easier, personally.

This has really caught me off guard. I've been using MMC since....good gracious.....1994....1995 something like that.
If ATI is going to completely revamp a program, I think there needs to be much, MUCH better publicity and information about it. |

I've been able to move back and forth between the Unified T200 driver w/ MMC 9.14 and any of the older style WDM SP and/or NSP drivers and MMC 9.06.1 quite easly. Just a series of installs/uninstalls of the ATI Drivers and Software.
I think that the TV quality is a bit better with the older WDM drivers, so I'm sticking with them. Running Cat 5.13 on my AIW X800XT. This will most likely be my last AIW Card, however. Been using AIW's since 2000. My AIW 900 Pro is running Cat 4.12's with MMC 9.06.1. It's not in a gaming machine, so no point in fixing something that isn't broken. I doubt I would run anything newer than 5.13's on it. My .02

I was royally ticked off the other night because I spent most of my two days off trying to get this problem resolved instead of doing what I'd planned to do. Anyway, I completely uninstalled the Cat drivers, uninstalled MMC, rebooted, ran a registry cleaner, and cleaned out my temp files. Then, after several repeats of installing the newer CATs and MMC versions WITHOUT SUCCESS, I finally resorted to simply using the CAT drivers and MMC 8.8 that came on the CD with my AIW 9600. Things are working and I've done quite a bit of video capture since then. AT this point, I'm leaving well enough alone until I get some better information. I'll check out your post. |

If my TV wsan't working a few weeks ago (before new driver install) I would have thought the tuner was dead or something. But considering the Old AND New drivers now won't install (after trying to install the latest unified driver), I believe the new drivers messed up XP. All attempts at cleaning traces of ATI products don't seem to be working. I'm checking these boards every few days for a solution, but nothing yet... |

When you uninstall the currenct drivers, MMC, and that T200 Streaming, you need to reboot and then run a Registry Cleaner and clear out the Temp files. Crap Cleaner does an excellent job of this. Google for CCleaner. Once you do that, reboot again. Run Crap Cleaner once more for good measure and then attempt the installation of the original CD drivers. Yes, it was nothing but a headache! |
