Catalyst Media Center, is this the new MMC...???

I hope this is the answer to all our prayers, if of course it works with all TVW and AIW cards...

I did a search and this article comes up on the ATI sight, looks like new? TV Wonder software:

Quote:
Unleash the power of visual velocity with Catalyst Media Center™. Catalyst® gives enthusiasts the flexibility to use hybrid tuners for both analog and digital signals. MulTView allows picture-in-picture for systems with more than one TV tuner card, while ThruView plays translucent video over a spreadsheet, word processing or other window or over the whole desktop – a true play while you work solution.
Catalyst Media Center™ takes the concept of the multimedia PC to an entirely new level, taking over where other media center solutions leave off. Next generations of HD video are converging on H.264, a compression standard that retains incredible video quality while taming the enormous video file sizes that sap bandwidth and overwhelm hard drives. Catalyst Media Center™ makes anyone a player in this bandwidth-friendly compression sweepstake or other advanced media formats, be it MPEG2, MPEG4, DivX or WMV9. And waiting is not in the equation because Catalyst® uses ATI’s Avivo™ Video Converter, the fastest PC video conversion tool on the planet.

The power of Catalyst Media Center doesn’t end at the PC. Today’s digital lifestyle is about content on the go. Catalyst’s versatile file conversion options take content programming to any of the popular portable media formats: Apple iPod Video, Windows Portable Media Center or Sony Playstation Portable.

TV Wonder® offers a superior performance to Unleash the power of visual velocity with Catalyst Media Center™. It delivers superior performance to TV and video enthusiasts. Developed as a new solution for ATI, Catalyst Media Center™ is the ultimate software control suite for TV Wonder® users. Even casual TV Wonder users will find the modern interface as approachable as it is attractive.

TV Wonder® users already understand the advantages of a PC-based multimedia center for uses like personal video recording. The complexity of software consoles can often turn casual users away, but Catalyst Media Center™ puts a friendly face to it. Straightforward controls and free advanced electronic programming guide make basic PVR operations as easy as clicking buttons on the remote control or using simple mouse/keyboard commands. A layered interface design keeps things simple when simplicity is demanded, but opens to an arsenal of advanced options for anyone that wants to up the play. Higher-end functions are nested as advanced option menus or right mouse click fly-out menus instantly available to enthusiasts.
http://www.atitech.ca/products/catal...ter/index.html that is a link to the page but I don't think ATI allows such links so try a copy and paste if you want to.

I wouldn't get the hopes up. I read about this on Rage3D's interview with the AiW manager dude (booo, hiss).

I bet first revision we don't get support then following revisions we get the shaft once again as it fails to provide the functionality promised.

Going by ATI's track record thus far anyway.

Sorry but I don't cruise the ATI website unless a driver release that affects my hardware has come out. This does not so..... With the pathetic mess of non functioning AIW drivers and lack of quality support little is left us but speculation, glad I don't depend on my card for anything more than gaming. It was my first purchase of an AIW product and was so discouraging I never had the chance to depend on it for anything else.

Exactly, who visits ATI's website on a regular basis? I think i clicked the bookmark by mistake and then saw the banner for the T650, so decided to check it out and then saw the link for CMC.

Go ATI, go! Go ATI, go! Go ATI, go!

It's worth a try...

I've looked, and can't find ANYWHERE to D/L it.

If someone has a link to D/L them from i'd appreciate ot.

If i can get it, I'll make a sacrifical system with HyperOS, and give them a try.

Who knows 'maybe' these might work.

I gave up on anything coming from their site after dealing with their "support" team for a couple of months almost a year ago now. Anyway it is speculative software in it's present form and is not seemingly intended for the AIW. At least not those manufactured before 2007. Anyway who wants to speculate about imaginary software from a now defunct company?

Maybe the merger with AMD will give them free time to make a better MMC!

End of wishful thinking

Well I wouldn't know don't think I've ever needed any support from them.
Though i did RMA a card a very, very, long time ago. once to have them check
it out. Turns out the card was good, (they did update the firmware on it though
it said nothing on the RMA sheet to that effect).

Defunct? This isn't a nvidia deal. Where they take all their info an tech rights
and burn the rest to the ground and kick everyone out the door. This is working
"acquisition" meaning they want the people and everything to go along with it.
For ATI to do the same work under the AMD banner. Just with better resources
and funding, the end result should be a superb product , unequaled by anything,

It matters. Alot.

Do you seriously believe that if everyone ignored common gramatical conventions that anyone would be able to understand anyone else? Language would degenerate and break down until everyone spoke their own language. Its the same with society: I mean as long as no one gets hurt... who cares if no one follows the law? Well people WILL get hurt if no one follows the law. That's why the laws are there. Same with grammar. Without proper spelling, grammar, etc., things would fall apart.

Unless afflicted with some disorder or disability, there is no excuse for not trying your best to speak, read, and write English or any other language the way it is meant to be written. The people who don't have a reason for not spelling correctly or for blatantly ignoring gramatical rules are just plain lazy. Not even speaking it as a second language is an excuse because English is my third language and I can still use the language effectively. I could understand if you're in the process of learning English how you might make such mistakes but for a primary anglophone there really isn't any excuse except either laziness or ignorance.
