TV Viewing Software??
I just purchased an ATI TV Wonder Elite. It comes with CyberLink Power Cinema which I think is terrible. I used to have an All-in-Wonder card that had Multimedia Center, which I liked very much. It was easy to use, clean interface, good recording, Thru-View, etc. This Power Cinema is useless. I can't get rid of the kid like interface with the huge buttons and stuff, the screen won't go past a certain size, there's no Thru-View... am I missing something? Or is there a better software package I can try?
The ATI literature mentions Beyond TV and InterVideo Home Theater, but they both stink also. I looked on ATIs website and it seems like this Elite card is the only one that can't be used with some sort of MMC package. What's up with that?!? Any suggestions?? |

You should be able to use the current version of MMC that's on the ATI site, although it isn't offically supported.

Well I've tried installing SEVERAL versions of MMC and of course, none worked.
Some won't even install.... some just give me a blue screen when trying to view TV... one actually showed a picture but it was very choppy and wavy and gave me a headache.... I just don't understand why ATI shows an MMC product with every other TV Wonder card except the TV Wonder Elite... how does that make ANY sense?!?! The silly Power Cinema package works correctly, it's just annoying. I guess I can put up with that for a little while, I don't know what to do. |

I have the TVWE and use MMC9.13 right now and it works ok. My TV got screwed up after installing C6.7, so i will see what the new C6.8, MMC9.15 does. BTW, new TVWE drivers released also.
I will uninstall everything and install all these new drivers. Wish me luck. If you don't hear from me in 1 hour, send in the troops.

Unfortunately throughout this process, I've installed several different Catalyst and Theater Pro drivers, however, I have no idea which one is currently running. I checked my system in the control panel and I can't find anything about the TV Wonder Elite or its drivers. Any idea where to find them? I'm gonna try to install MMC again and see what happens.

Maybe I need to mention that I don't have an ATI video card/chip. I'm using an on-board video processer by Intel. Does that matter with Catalyst 6.8? I upgraded the Theater Pro driver to 6.14.10.168, but when I try to install Catalyst 6.8, it doesn't change anything.
Oh and MMC tells me "The TV Player failed to initialize. Check the Windows Device Manager to ensure that the correct video driver has been installed and is working properly." I tried that WinAmp player and it's choppy, the audio lags behind the video and there are lines when the action moves quickly on the screen. |

Catalyst is for ATI chips, you need to install the drivers for your specific Intel graphics.
Make sure you are getting TV Wonder Elite drivers and not Pro. If you go to ATI's website under Drivers&Software, then WindowsXP, then TV Tuners, you should see Theater 550/650 Pro download. Grab that. Should be version 6.14.10.186 In Device Manager TVWonderElite is under Sound, video and game controllers and should be listed as ATI Unified AVStream Driver. You can select properties for that and uninstall it and install the correct ones.

...and after you uninstall the Catalyst driverset, then install the latest driver for your Intel video chip, then get the TV working with the Theatre 550/650 drivers (the three files - driver, Visual C++ Patch, and the Control Panel) you could then try the Gemstar and Powercinema stuff again if you want...

Thanks for the help. I had forgotten about updating my Intel video drivers, there was a newer version that I could download. So I updated that. I had previously updated the Theater 560/650 drivers, so that was good.
My Power Cinema has always worked fine, I just don't like it and for some reason there is a major delay in the display. I have Direct TV and if I change a channel it takes about 5 seconds before it registers. Not sure what's happening there. Anyway, I guess there's no hope for getting MMC to work with this because it just won't detect the TV Wonder Elite card for whatever reason. |

So stupid me, I actually submitted a ticket to ATI for some support on this issue. Of course, they came back (after 3 different attempts) and told me that "Unofficially, the card will work with MMC. But we can't provide any support for this issue."
Thanks jackoffs. There has to be something I'm missing here, I just wish I could figure out what it is.

So you installed the Theater550/650 drivers? In device manager do you see ATI Unified AVStream Driver?
Now, you have MMC installed (9.13 or higher)? If you go to Configuration and into the TV tab, do you see anything under Selected Input Sources?

Yes it says Theatre 550 Pro 1 in the left box and nothing in the right box. I can't select anything or hit the configure button.
I installed MMC 9.15 and my ATI Unified AVStream Driver is version 6.14.10.186 |

Looks like its disabled the card.
Surprise surprise another wonky MMC. I'd just try getting the stuff that was on the CD working then be done with it |

Well I do have the stuff that came on the CD working fine.
What's it supposed to say in that box for the MMC to work with it? |

There are other apps that you can probably get working with this card. Dscaler for example, Videolan is another. Both of these apps though you will have to go in and configure th app for your card. Hope that helps..also try updateing your chipset drivers...this fixed my issues with my TV tuner....which is pretty close to the one your talking about. I can use MMC with it..
