Location Free TV with Easy Connect...Please Help

I have 3 computers with ati video cards.

1. a p3 1ghz and a 9000 aiw xp pro
2. a amd 2500+ and 9800 pro xp mce
3. a hp laptop p4 630 and x600 mobility xp mce

I installed 6.5 on the 9000 aiw and all other things listed under the mmc downloads. (remote/dao/dvd/encoder/mmc)

ati listed older drivers supported for the 9000 aiw

installed 6.8 provided by ati on the 9800 pro and all the mmc items listed above.

installed the latest omega drivers 6.7 on the laptop (cursed hp and there 2+ year old video drivers) and all the ati mmc items listed above.

Now i can start up the tv on the 9000 aiw and I can use easy connect on the 9800 pro to connect to the 9000 aiw threw the network to watch tv on the 9800 pro.

however when I go to use easyconnect on the laptop it says Unable to start TV.
The tv player failed to initalize. Check the windows device manager to ensure that the correct video driver has been installed and is working properly before attempting to restart tv.

Now for the questions:

1. Has anyone gotten easy connect to work on their laptops and run tv threw the network. I really would like to have "location free tv" wirelessly on my laptop.

2. If so how

3. Do Omega drivers work with mmc

Thanks for your help

2. DId it the way the manual said and Googled around... no joy

Well, since I hadn't done an OS install on my laptop in over a year I decided to wipe and go at it again.

I have a external usb dual tv tuner that came with this laptop, I tried to use it once i set up its drivers and installing the omega drivers, but It wouldnt work. I remembered that you mentioned I needed wdm drivers from ati to install on top the omega drivers, did that and it worked.

So i know these wdm drivers are installed and working, however when I go to use the easy connect It still gives me the wrong video drivers message as stated above

One these days ill get this working ...

Maybe another program I can use .. software only. I know of items like slingbox, and sony even has a box called location free tv, but these are 300 bones + .. i was thinking more or less free

Anyone know of anything else I can try?

maybe even using this usb tuner (adaptec AVC 3610) and sharing it somehow. ati mmc see's this as a tuner, but its listed as unknown device, not sure of any other programs it works with besides xp mce.

There's a tool called VideoLan you may want to try out, Google for it.

Never a bad idea but you'll need to find something for using video because ATI doesn't provide Linux software for TV/FM
