X800XT sound question
I just got my X800XT AIW back from ATI (had to RMA it), and I noticed that there is a 4-pin connector right next to the gold tuner 'can'. It's labeled 'Line Out'.
Now I have always complained that I don't get STEREO with my FM Radio, and come to think of it, I never had stereo on TV either. I've always made sure that I had all the cables/plugs from the Input/Output Adapters connected, including the green 'Line-in to sound card' one, but I still never got stereo Now, I looked EVERYWHERE in the documentation, and I can't find ANY reference to this connection. Should I connect that to the sound card like I would a CD/DVD Drive?? Any input would be gratefully received.

I used to have a X800XT card matey. That little yellow connector is for the VIVO (Video in-Video out). It's basically so you can hook up VIVO to the front panel on your case.
Don't worry it baffled the hell out of me too. |

I'm not talking about the one between the fan and the outputs. This one is at the upper left of the card, and is white. It's right next to the rectangular GOLD tuner 'can'.

Sorry dude just trying to help.
If your looking at the one right in the corner tucked in between the 4 capacitors thats just a floppy disk style power point. If thats not the one stick up a picture and i'll have a look. Im talking rubbish. Ahhh got you, had a dig around for some pictures. That is indeed a lineout on the card that you can connect to a line-in on the soundcard if you don't use the dongle. My apologies. Last edited by Lelisevis; Feb 6, 2007 at 10:58 PM. |

Never apologize for trying to help
Your original info may not have helped me, but it could very well have helped someone else reading this thread I kinda figured that was what it was...I'm gonna try connectiing that to the saound card as see if that will give me STEREO on FM. I'll probably edit this post with the results, unless there are other posts with different info.

I may, "may" have your lack of stereo issue solved. Many sound cards have a MONO microphne input which can also double as Line in, ?????

Mic and line in use different gain levels most of the time... Mic usually has +20dB enabled which would give you loud and distorted TV sound That connector that I am looking at right now.... I'm pretty sure it does nothing and was meant for OEM's (shows how much it got used eh?) |

I find that +20dB booster for mic inputs are totally useless and cause more problems.
Alot of the sound cards i've delt with that have both line in and mic in sharing the same input, although SHOULD have stereo seperation, but may not, however i've seen some people have setup there mic as a line in causing some odd issues while some people get it reversed where they plug in a stereo device but use the MIC mode causing of course a mono result and them not being pleased. SO i'd check that as well.

+20dB may cause problems but its still there as it is so I'd avoid it
