ATI MMC 9.16 problem with initial recording duration

I am using the MMC 9.16 and have a rather strange problem with the initial recording duration. After starting a new recording, the duration is given as "30 min", although I have enough space on the allocated drive, as well as set the one-touch recording to ~10 h (to be on the save side).

There is no apparent reason for this issue and I wonder, if anybody else has noticed this behaviour? ATI/AMD-support so far (about a month now, that I submitted a 'ticket') was no help.

I have done a clean install of the drivers, MMC AND even Windows (XP SP2) and also tried Windows XP Pro, to no avail. Is this a bug I have to live with or use a diffferent MMC version? Or does anyone know a registry-key to change?

Thanks a lot for any help! I like to use MMC 9.16, if possible, because the noise reduction of video and audio (for video previously called "video-soap") are working really great with my system. I use the Catalyst 7.1 with CP on Windows XP Home SP2.

Have you also set all the other space allocations for MMC to more than 10 hours?

Also note there are other applications that do what video soap does and some better, videosoap I don't believe is a hardware thing specific to ATI/AMD

I tried BeyondTV and a few others, have you got any suggestions? BTV I did not like very much, it wasn't running smoothly on my system (menus and channel-change, esp.) and the results were only fair to middling.

Well if you're not a fan of BTV but you're a Linux fan there's MythTV... other than that, there's Microsoft's own XP Media Center Edition (though I wouldn't necessarily count that as 'better')... I can't seem to think of too many off the top of my head, I just liked BeyondTV so much

For things that just capture video without frills, there's DScaler if you can get it to work, there's the mplayer2.exe trick (not sure myself how to get that to work)... there's VideoLAN... things like that.

If you check out a few of the stickies on this forum I'm sure you'll find a load more

Thanks for your suggestions! I'll try them, perhabs with the new drivers BeyondTV will work.
Although I'd really like to know, what the problem is with MMC, weird, even ATIs support so far could not make head or tail of it.
If I only could find the registry-key responsible, perhabs changing the settings for the context-menu "record-for" (s. screenshot) would help...

Haha that thing never worked right for me. Always gimped out 5 mins before it was supposed to or an hour after it was supposed to.

I don't even know that there is a registry key to change any of that :\
