AIW X600Pro Hell
Hello Fellows,
First let me say what a miracle it is to find a place where those of us who love/hate the AIW cards can collaborate and commiserate. I put together a PC last year using an AIW X600 pro. Love it as a video card, hate it as a capture device. and by that it mean it doesn't work, never has. I get the usual mixed bag of T200 driver/Code 10 errors. These days, the MMC claims to not be installed at all, and yet Library still runs. I've tried uninstalling everything, running CAB cleaner and Driver Cleaner. It seems to not work now better than it 'not worked' before, but still, all I really want is the damned 'capture' option to work. My cardinal sin is being unable to locate the original install disc. What I am using now is the CCC 7.11 and MMC 9.16 combo available on AMD-ATI's site. I have two tickets on ATI support...no hope there. Any help you can give would be wonderfully appreciated. Where do I go from here? For my card, whats the last known good copy of CCC and MMC i should be using? I've had two previous AIWs, including one for my PII 450 system...so this will tell you my love for the product. er, until now. SPECS FOR MY 'PUTER Gigabyte Motherboard with realtek onboard audio (cant tell from BIOS if/how onboard video is disabled) 2 GB DDR RAM WD Caviar 250GB HD XP SP2 Sincerely Yours, TWH115 newbie here since...well, yesterday |

Welcome to DriverHeaven!
I wish I could say there's hope for you. But, as a prior owner/user of AIW cards for years, I gave up on MMC after encountering problem after problem with it once it went to version 9.x. I've since quit even considering AIW cards as an option. However, you're more than welcome to browse these forums for possible solutions. Good luck! |

Is there any other way I can use the card besides the MMC software, via some combo of the WDM drivers and perhaps MediaPortal or even.
I dont really care about the MMC software, but i do need to use the RCA capture ability of the device. Any ideas about jerry-rigging it so the inputs can be recognized by other software? |

I used to have an X800 AIW, and the only time my card worked REALLY well was with the drivers that came on the original install CD. Unfortunately I managed to destroy that one. Rolled over it with my chair (don't ask
).Sometime later when I was having problems and need to RMA it, an ATI tech told me that at that time the CAT 6.2/MMC 9.06.1 combo what the best to use. This was after the MMC 9.16s were out. I installed that combo and it worked better than antything else other than the originals. You might give that combination a try and see what happens.

Thanks.
Does anyone know if the CAT 6.2 available on the ATI site come with MMC 9.02.1? |

Good luck! (BTW, I did use my capture ability using Windows Movie Maker a few times. The real bad downside for me is that I'm clinically deaf and needed to use the ATI proprietary .vcr format in order to get the subtitles/closed caption text as well.) |

Shame but there are ways around it. Like someone who collects classic cars that will no longer run on pump gas, if you invest enough time and love into it your AiW can still work like the golden oldie that it is
