DivX And ATI TV

Ok, I got the Divx player and Divx codec and my ATI TV thingy, now when I record movies I can choose hhow I want to save it, theres MPEG raw and VCR 2.0, VCR 2.0 looks better and is smaller, but i recconized MPEG more, but its huge, they both play in media player but not in Divx player, oh and they're both .avi. So how do I compress these to Divx?... Actually... How do I compress ANYTHING to divx, I've never used it before, haha.
