??? AIW HD - VGA (dvi) + DVI (hdmi) possible?

Hello,

Simple question : is this possible or not with AIW HD?

Just reading about AIW HD requirements and with Dual-Display Connections - they omit to mention DVI + DVI : ATI All-in-Wonder? HD - System Requirements

I want to go :

1) Primary DVI via DVI to VGA connector and therefore VGA input on monitor.
2) Secondary HDMI via HDMI to DVI connector and therefore DVI input on monitor.

Granted that both conversions are possible and ATI makes note of them. BUT each mentioned individually with different combination. I’m 99% sure that this should work from I/O side of things, but fear - is there some known limitation from ATI’s side, that would not allow my VGA (via DVI to VGA adapter) + DVI (via HDMI to DVI adapter) to work as planned?

I want to purchase two of these, but would really benefit greatly some confirmation from users or reputable power users who are familiar with exact facts.

I appreciate your time and attention
Marino

Re: AIW HD - VGA (dvi) + DVI (hdmi) possible?

Per ATI's DUAL-DISPLAY CONNECTIONS options, since they are describing dual display setups, then, any two of the following options should work:

Dual-Display Connections

  • The following options are available for connecting your ATI All-in-Wonder™ HD to two display devices.
  • HDMI + DVI.
  • HDMI + HDMI. Second video HDMI output is provided through a DVI-to-HDMI adapter (not included). Note: In this arrangement, video is streamed through both ports, but audio is streamed to the native HDMI port only, and is not streamed through the DVI-to-HDMI adapter.
  • HDMI + VGA through the included DVI-to-VGA adapter.
  • HDMI + S-Video through the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card.
  • HDMI + Composite. Use the S-Video VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card with the optional S-Video-to-Composite adapter.
  • HDMI + Component. Connect to an HDMI display device, and connect a component cable to the Y-OUT, PB-OUT, and PR-OUT connectors on the optional audio/video I/O extension card. (Component cable not included.)
  • DVI + S-Video through the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card.
  • DVI + Composite through an optional S-Video-to-Composite adapter connected to the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card.
  • DVI + Component. Connect a component cable (not included) to the Y-OUT, PB-OUT, and PR-OUT connectors on the optional audio/video I/O extension card.
  • HDMI + S-Video. Connect HDMI using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter (adapter not included) and connect S-Video through the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card.
  • HDMI + Composite. Connect HDMI using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter (adapter not included) and connect a component cable using the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card and the optional S-Video-to-Component connector.
  • HDMI + Component. Connect HDMI using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter (adapter not included) and a component cable to the Y-OUT, PB-OUT, and PR-OUT connectors on the optional audio/video I/O extension card. (Component cable not included.)
  • VGA + S-Video. Use the included DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect to a VGA display device along with the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card
  • VGA + Composite. Use the included DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect to a VGA display device and connect a component cable using the VID-OUT connector on the optional audio/video I/O extension card and the optional S-Video-to-Component connector.
  • VGA Component. Use the included DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect to a VGA display device and connect a component cable to the Y-OUT, PB-OUT, and PR-OUT connectors on the optional audio/video I/O extension card. (Component cable not included.)

Re: AIW HD - VGA (dvi) + DVI (hdmi) possible?

Thank you for your response Dyre Straits,

Sadly you offer what I've already mentioned as unanswered enigma.

Since this description goes great lengths being elaborate about each connection + adapter and mind you, none mentions my inquiry. So this is either not possible, or they missed to include this one as well in description.

Sadly no AIW HD owner (yet) confirmed this as a fact. So I guess I will most likely departure from AIW as such. It is the last and final AIW anyway in AIW family, so had to part from it anyway.

regards
