8500DV Recording TV leaves sound hissing!
When I record using my AIW Radeon 8500 DV the audio seems fine. But when I play it back, the audio has some hissing/clicking on through the audio (mainly conversations ).
I could upload an example/s if someone knows of a good ISP that won't delete the avi/wav/mp3 files as soon as I upload them. Ive had this problem since I bought the card a month ago, but because I bought it on discount I doubt I'm in for a replacement as there were no others. It also didnt come with the 29 pin in/out dongle, so Ive had to connect the audio to the sound card internally. When recording from the ATI Tv player and also Virtual VCR I get a clicking noise with! The multimedia centre for the TV program I am using is version 8.5 I'm also using the Catalys 03.6 and tv-capture-wdm-6-14-10-6207v1 drivers. (I have tried the XP cd, and the ATI cd's drivers but this still occurs) My PCs specs are: P3 1Ghz 512MB Ram AIW Radeon 8500 DV 64MBDDR 4xAGP Sound Blaster Live! 1024 Win XP Professional Service Pack 1 Direct X 9.0 Thanks for any help! My suspicion is that you are getting noise from the PCI bus related to the soundblaster card. Is all your other audio fine (without pops or hisses)? Does this occur with all captures (e.g. default high quality VCR files)? Did you install the AGP drivers for your motherboard when you installed windows? What version of the Soundblaster drivers are you using? Version .383 have been released within the past month or so.
Post your results - good luck :-)

get rid of the SBLive card. I have an AIW 8500DV card and when I had the SB installed, nothing but hell!!!
got rid of it and got a turtle beach santa cruz card and all is fine. no hissing or crackling. on another not I can't install over 3.1 cats on my system due to losing textures on BF1942. |

also, you may want to see if changing the pci latency timer will help (only do this if you know what you're doing!)

Get ride of the Sound Blister Live
I would defintely go for a SoudAudigy 2 because I have had some success with it (my brother has one) but as for the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz I have had no problems except I have to have audio playing when I do the PC check utility otherwise the card is too much to the plus side.
