MMC 8.5 Bugs - anyone knows solutions?

I am having trouble with a number of serious ATI MMC 8.5 Bugs. Does anyone know a solution for these?

1. No sound during 'TV on demand' & Recording: after MMC was installed for months all of a sudden no sound during 'TV on demand'and TV capture via internal Tuner. Once VoD is turned on, 'line in' is switched off.

2. Disturbing Sound when switching channels: a loud interference noise, then sound turns off for about 1/2 second ('MMC mutes 'Line In'). It would be great, if MMC would use an application internal sound control (instead of using line in).

3. "snow and interference disturbance" (picture and sound) when switching channels AFTER detailed channel scan

4. Video quality of 'TV on demand': when turning on 'TV on demand', picture quality is reduced noticeably (artefacts, stutter, picture). Interestingly, quality becomes better (a) the longer TV is paused in VoD-mode, (b) the longer ago MMC has been installed / is in use.

5. TeleText: screen is too small to be readable on a TV, but when enlarging, the font is all messed up AND the lines do overlap considerably

6. Mute when recording: when a recording starts, MMC pops up and TV sound is turned on _if_ MMC was minimized (and, hence, muted) before ("turn off audio during recording"). It seems, "Line in" mute is simply toggled.

7. When TV starts, it sometimes will randomly zoom to the upper left quadrant for a while

8. TV overscan: switch on/off easily, control extend of TV overscan

9. Import the TV station names (are - at least in Europe - sent in the blanking interval) during channel scan

10. Switch off GemStar display in EasyLook (no GemStar in many Countries)

11. up and down keys in TV app no longer switch channels (the channel +/- button is inconveniently located on Remote Wonder)

12. ESC in TV App makes an hourglass show when in EasyLook

13. PAL turns to NTSC in Setup: when opening the windows for the video setting of a channel (Setup - Tuner - Channel - Details - Video), the settings always turns to NTSC.

14. If you have controls enabled, hit enter and exit fullscreen mode, the controls stay as if you were still in fullscreen mode

15. Identical 'required HD space' calculation for recording quality "DVD" and "Good", though tests show that this is not the case

I am using MMC 8.5, Catalyst 3.6 under XP SP1

Regards, Til

I have the same problem with audio in VOD mode. I've only had the card a week but it has done it since day one - and only if I launch MMC in VOD mode. If you watch the volume control panel carefully you can see that MMC uses the line in playback source for live tv. When switching to VOD or PVR mode it mutes line in playback control and selects the line in recording control. If you open a live video window while watching time shifted video MMC enables both audio sources and you get the "mix" of live and delayed audio. For me, the audio remains muted while watching live video in VOD mode unless you jump back in the buffer and then advance to live video again.

I emailed ATI support but no answer as yet. I hope the answer isn't "That's the way it works..."
