??? ATI AIW 9800 Pro: Can the TV-tuner be removed (physically)???

You'd wonder why I might wanna remove my TV-tuner. Here's the scope:

I previously owned a 9800 Pro (non-AIW) with a DangerDen MAZE4 GPU waterblock. Unfortunately I had to return this card some months later to the company (it was booked as inventory).
Luckily I was able to purchase a used ATI AIW 9800 Pro for at a very nice price. But now the cooling block won't fit this card as it is being blocked by the TV-tuner (therefore DangerDen specifically states a no-go with these blocks for AIW owners).
Since I'd rather have a quiet system than the ability to watch tv on my computer, I'd like to remove the tuner. I understand there'd be no more warranty for me but the card probably has little if none left.

Has anyone ever done this before? It looks quite easy...... I'm even wondering if the card will work at all with its tuner missing

Thanks for any input

It seems like it would be easier to just sell it- Aren't they worth quite a bit more that the non-AIW versions? I'd sell it somewhere and get a regular 9800pro- you can get one for 266 dollars, I bet you could sell your AIW for more than that....

The point is that I got this card for the editing options it offers with the same performance specs as the previous one

OIC, well, I don't know- I wouldn't want to even attempt it unless I had unlimited money to spend on PC stuff. It would be a shame to wreck a nice card like that trying to mod it, but maybe someone around here would know if it is possible or not. I would think the functions you want (and the card) wouldn't work if the TV tuner wasn't there without a modded driver, but that's purely a guess. Hopefully someone will know if it's possible.

Well, to be honest I just opened the cover of the tuner itself & it seems impossible. Since connectors run through the housing it seems not possible to remove it w/o wrecking these connectors. I doubt that anyone has ever done this before.....And then again: my funds are rather limited at the time.......

The driver thing is also an obstacle, right 'bout that (hadn't thought THAT over yet)

Thanks anyway!

Maybe there are waterblocks that fit an AIW? I hadn't thought of that, but maybe somewhere....

That was my next thought also. The price would probably beat that one of a new AIW
