Driver version supplied with new AIW
I've had a Radeon 9000 AIW for a while now. I hit trouble with it and had to reinstall. I couldn't find the original driver CD
and tried v3.9 Catalysts and the driver CD from an older Radeon 9700 Pro from my other PC. The older drivers caused unwatchable video flashing on live video (recordings and showshifted video were better) while Catalyst 3.9 disabled the ability to change channels (I know that's down to DX90b now). Anyway, I eventually bought a replacement Connect3D Radeon 9200SE AIW card just for the driver CD (great value, huh?) but noticed something odd about the drivers. All the files on the CD are dated on or about the end of August 2003 and it contains MMC8 but the Catalyst version appears to be v2.2. This isn't a problem since everything is working fine but is it normal to have such old drivers supplied with AIW cards? I believe I had the same version when I bought the R9000 AIW a while back.

I guess it depends on the company . . . maybe they don't keep up to date on the lesser products . . . maybe they did testing, and thought that was the best driver for that card . . . I dunno really.
