When will ATi release the next All-in-wonder videocard

I would love to buy a new all in wonder card (have an 8500DV) but I would like to have a card that is pretty much 4 times what I have now. I would love to have a 256MB all-in-wonder built by ati card. I am not much into games but a X800 would be lovely in an all-in-wonder card.

later

I'd guess 3-6 months after the regular X800

When it's ready....

As I understood it will have HDTV support there for the ATI’s HDTV setup must be finalized first....Because of course the add-on boards and the AIW cards will likely share chips….

if you mean an HDTV tuner, Neon, I don't think it's likely, due to the larger size of it, compared to analog.

maybe the HDTV will be attached on some sort of ribbon cable attachment/add-on?

If you compare the card length of ATI vs nVidia, and allow for the larger phillips hdtv tuner module, it would seem possible to have an HDTV AIW.

I am a long time AIW user, but have often thought that maybe I should go with the separate video card and tuner card, mainly to allow me to keep up with the higher end graphics. Currently, I still use the AIW9700Pro that I picked up as soon as was locally available. The aiw9800 is something that I've by passed as not being enough of an upgrade.

In the near term, I hope for an update to MMC software... CM had indicated we could see something last week; the week that followed the cat4.6's... so far, all quiet, with even the reviews of the hdtv card highlighting mmc 9.0

ATI already knows that you must be asking about a DTV All-in-Wonder possibility (as we were), and they have prepared a response in their HDTV Wonder's FAQ:
  • ...One of the most obvious reasons involves size: the HDTV tuner solution is significantly larger than the current tuner on an All-in-Wonder board. Attempting to make such a large tuner fit on an All-in-Wonder board would result in sacrificing some of the All-in-Wonder's great feature set and performance. Another reason for separating the HDTV tuner from the graphics processor is to maintain signal integrity of the digital signal. Connecting the tuner to the demodulator is a sensitive matter that is easily impacted by electrical noise...
Does this mean that with the full analog to DTV switch, All-in-Wonders will become extinct? Not likely; AIWs are still a good bread-and-butter source for ATI's multimedia team. With ATI's progression in their developments within the graphics and multimedia field, it is likely that both of these hurdles will be overcome in the future, and the full switch will be far from complete, which means that ATI still has quite a bit of time to figure things out.
