REQ: how to capture this ... pls help

I have a Canon ES50 8mm camcoder ( I dont think its digital ... not sure ) and I have 2 8mm tapes full of stuff that I recorded and I want to burn them on CD's ... I'm not sure how to do it. I have a PCTV (Pinnacle studio) TV card I tried to capture but there's only a Video in but not a Audio in its really not capturing properly .... I'm wondering whether I need a seperate capture card and if so what should I buy .... and if I dont want another capture card how do I do with the one I have .... I'm really desperate for this as I have a friends b'day party is on my camcoder and he's after me to get this ... pls help me .. I'm sure some 1 would help me.

If that camera of yours uses firewire, then the 1 cable carries both video and sound to your computer, assuming it has also got a firewire port. Most newer computers seem to.

Then, you don't need another card... just need to use something like Movie maker that comes with windows xp to make your transfer.

System Specs

can you hook up the camcorder to the audio-in of your sound card, and set your capture to record the sudio from there? you may need an RCA-to-mini-stereo convertor cord.
