Default Post Help ME ATi Capture drivers, Ati Configuration in MMC, PC check problem

I have had this problem with Windows XP with every single capture driver, video driver, Registry, and all Multimedia Centers.

Here is my rig:

My system specs:

CASE: Antec sx-1030B with window
Power Supply: Antec PP-510D Power Supply
MotherBoard: Tyan Thunder K7 S2462 -NG
CPUS: 2 AMD Athlon MP 2800+
VideoCard: ATI ALL IN WONDER RADEON 8500 DV
Memory: 2 sticks of Crucial REG ECC 2100 256MB Memory (512 total)
Memory: 2 sticks of Corsair REG ECC 2100 256MB Memory (512 total)
Soundcard: Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Raid: Promise Raid TX2000 ATA 133 pci card
IDE: Promise TXT2 Ultra133 IDE ATA pci card
Harddrives: 2 120 GB Hard drives Western Digital Special Edition 7200RPM with 8MB cache(boot and backup)
Harddrives: 2 60 GB Hard drives Maxtor diamond max plus 7200RPM (Running raid 0)
Lite Drives: Toshiba 16x dvd 1612
Sony DRU-500A dvd±R/RW
Plextor 24/12/40 black (on Pci card)
LiteON 40125S (on pci card
Floppy: Sony 3.5 Black floppy
Cables: All Yellow Vantec Cables to fit 3 18 2 24 (Floppy and dvd/cd drives)
Heatsink/fans: 2 Thermaltake 6CU+ 7000RPM
Fans: 4 80 MM antec fans (one blue tri led), 1 in PSU
Modem: Ambient (Intel) V.90 hardware modem
OS: Windows XP Professional with all updates
Monitor: Sony G-520P 21 inch monitor with dual 15 pin inputs

The problem that I experience is that the capture drivers are not recognized in the registry when I do a PC check (Start, (all) Programs, ATi Multimedia Center, Configuration (click it), click the far tab with pc check then click run tests.

Once I click run tests I instantly lose my TV and all. I then have to reinstall the capture drivers or repair ATI MMC. When the tests are done everything tests fine except for my Capture drivers are not listed in the registry (which they are), and my raid card cannot be detected to see if it is dma (which it can't and this is okay).

I reinstalled the capture drivers again after the fact.

The tv ran fine then I thought have the tv on and then do tests.

Once I click run tests with the tv on. The tv went out. I guess that when I hit run tests that the software changes the registry or that it reprograms so the the tester can not find the drivers and mess up them too.

If you have any ideas let me know

Later

Pete

Hey Pete - what I strongly recommend is that you uninstall the Control Panel, Drivers and MMC. Then reboot. Once you have rebooted, go into c:\Windows\inf and search through the files called oem#.inf (where # could be any number from 0 upwards) and see how many files you find that refers to ATINTWDM.inf in the top line. Make sure you delete that file and its' accompanying .pnf file. Also make sure you delete every other oem#.inf that refers to ati cards.

Reboot the computer and then reinstall the Catalyst 3.4 driver package making sure you install the wdm's first, don't restart, then the drivers, then the control panel with no reboots. Then install the latest MMC (without rebooting) in addition to the dvd decoder software and the remote software. Then reboot at the end of it all and see if you still have that problem. Report back. Good luck!

I still lose the tv

I had just done a complete reinstall of my whole system with the latest drivers with Windows XP Pro Retail slipstreamed with service pack 1. With this card, It has occured on 4 different Motherboards and still have the same problem. I would have the tv running and not running and I still have the same problem. The capture drivers are seen correctly, but still lose tv and have to reinstall capture drivers to get them to work on MMC 8.1.

Update:

Everything is recogized under MMC 8.5 and no problems now. I run PC check and no problems. I guess the problem was with the older versions of MMC PC check. Now My system is the ultimate stable server I have ever built now.
