ATI file viewer fast forward/rewind not working.
Hi,
I have an AIW 7500 and I have just noticed that on TV recording in MPEG4 .avi the File Viewer Fast forward and rewind buttons does not work. The same buttons work fine when I am playing files recorded in ATI's .vcr format. I just want to know if somebody else has seen the same problem. Thanks. |

I just tested with the Composite input, recording to MPEG-4 Home Theater, and the FF/RW buttons worked fine in ATI File Player.
I don't currently have TV service to test that out for you. Maybe someone else has heard of this. You can try doing a Repair of MMC, in Add/Remove Programs

I am not positive on this, but I think it depends how the file is encoded. I have had files where the fastfoward works and ones where it doesnt. If I am previewing partially dled files for example the fast foward/rewind often doesnt work until the complete file is complete then it will work fine. I think it depends on file format and how its encoded or compressed or whatever.

Thanks Jitter,
Your experience seems to corroborate mine. In my case it was just fully recorded TV shows for which I had selected the “Home Theater MPEG4” encoding so that it compress better. But it does not really make sense to disable Fast Forward and Rewind based on encoding type of the file. |
