Pissed HDTV Wonder is totally pissing me off

https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/phora/web/error.JPG

HDTV wonder is the worst product ever. Doesnt install properly. After WDM driver installation always got the "new Hardware Found - Multimedia Video Controller" popup on every boot. That driver never gets installed and had to force manual install to the devices shown in the pic. The two DTV ones. The other two ATI rage ones are from my display adapter.

HIS ICEQ II X800XT PE VIVO
HDTV Wonder (crap)
Intel Proc/chipset
Enough RAM
Cat 5.1 w CCC
DX9 though missing system.dll file - dunno how to install this. DX installer wont reinstall and this happened while installing/uninstalling the drivers.
MMC 9.01 (the one given on ati.com is 9.03, but installing that doesnt give DTV - what the heck)
I already tried a complete clean install afte using driver cleaner.

I got that stuff working.

any recommendations for an antenna ?
Are antennas for HDTV special or any UHF would do.

For eg:

says HDTV ready
but this one is more powerful though not mention HDTV, only DTV

I was gonna say, You have a WDM enabled VIVO x800 so thats why it could have a problem installing it..

I would go with the second one, the more expensive one.. (you pay for what you get)

To be honest, I'd just get cable and be done with it...free HDTV broadcasting sucks anyways

System Specs

I am glad to see you got it working.

I went cheap on the antenna.
The antenna that comes with the ATI HDTV WONDER is actually very good.
It is also plastic. So I mounted it outside for better reception.

Works great outdoors.

Personally I don't know why everyone here is calling this a crap card.
Funny thing is they seem to not even have read what you wrote.
You got it working and your question turned to "what kind of antenna" should I use.

You will find a lot of good information on the HDTV WONDER over at AVS.

The ATI HDTV WONDER is one of the best products I have used.
Yes it is just OTA TV but it is great for what is was designed for.

If you don't like prime time TV, sports and PBS is a channel you try to avoid then you this is not a product you would like.

I also have Dish Satellite and I see the ATI HDTV WONDER as a complement to my viewing pleasue.

I find myself spending more time watching OTA HDTV than DISH at times.

As all broadcast TV in the United States will eventually be in HDTV, whether it sucks or not is beside the point if you don't want to pay for cable. Reviews of the HDTV Wonder all claim execllent picture quality for over-the-air HDTV reception for reasonably strong stations now and many mainline network stations already broadcast in HDTV along with their standard broadcast.
