AIW 9700 No Post HELP!!!!
I've had an AIW 9700 Pro since just a few months after they were introduced, it's all part of my plan to make a great mulitmedia PC.
It didn't work w/ my old M7VKB motherboard and duron800 chip presumably because it had a VIA chipset and there were apparently compatibility issues. So i finally upgraded to an ASUS K8N moboard w/ 2800+ AMD64 and i still have the same problem PROBLEM: I installed my AIW 9700 and when I hit the power button the fans in the case begin to spin however that it! It seems like my power supply is tripping off. I've heard of these problems with the AIW. My PS is the "True 380" 380W that came with my Antec Sonata Case. Everything runs fine with my old graphics card installed (GeForce256 32MB) I had also tested the AIW card in a friends computer that was a P4 on an intel board and it worked but i can't remember how big his power supply was and i've since lost touch w/ him. Is this a compatibility issue with the motherboard????? The K8N has an nVidia chipset. Also i'm having extrodinary difficulty finding similar stories on the interent. |

try a bigger psu. that should work. The fact that it works in a different comp is good. The psu is your problem. Get a bigger one and youll be all set. BTW dont cheap-out on it either, invest some money and it should last you a long time.

I have the exact same problem with my AIW 9700PRO
I recently purchased an ASUS K8N motherboard and an Athlon 64 3200 processor. When i boot with the AIW 9700Pro from my old computer, all system fans spin a few times and the computer fails to POST. I had an Antec 350W power supply which came with my case. I hear that AIW card coupled with my mother board draw too much power initially, enacting the power supply's overload protection. I am considering buying a generic 600W power supply which seems to meet the most demanding power requirements. It will supply 3.3V@32A , 5V@50A, +12V@24A compared to my orginal power supply at 3.3V@28A, 5V@35A, and +12V@16A.
This message goes out to "ekunyvan" or anyone else who has attempted to solve this problem. Any info on what has worked or any other advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Yup, the initial power draw problem just like this happened to a friend of mine with this exact card - changing the PSU solved the problem - the overload protection was too touchy.
Sorry I hadn't seen this sooner...
