Need Some Serious help With AIW X600 Pro

Alright.....

For some reason when I open up TV to watch something, there is like a 1 -2 second delay in changing channels or even switching from cable to composite etc etc.

Also I even hooked up my xbox to the card and launch Tv to play a game, there is about a one second delay in the controls ( I.E. I press forward and it takes my character 1.5 seconds to respond to move forward etc etc)... I dont understand

Maybe its the WDM drivers? I got the latest drivers but on the ATI site it says that the x600 pro and x800XT wdm drivers arent supported........

I have no idea why its doing this.

My Setup is as follows

Amd Athlon 64 3000+
asus A8N SLI Deluxe
1 Gig OCZ Ram..
480 enermax Watt PSU

dont think I need to give other details... But has anyone heard of this problem??

Ive had An AIW card before and never experienced this problem

Please If you can give some advice it would be greatly appricated...

Thank You

I have the same problems and, i agree, its very annoying. I had a AIW 8500DV that had no delays in channel changes. Also, on mine, when the little gray stereo indicator comes up, the sound mutes for a split second....a further aggravation... One of the techs at ATI e-mailed me that the next WDM's for the x600-x800's might fix that, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm considering getting one of the Theatre 550 pro hardware based cards to see if it will help, (I would use it as my main tuner and the AIW only occasionally) but i wish somebody could tell me if the 2 cards would work together...(PIP style)

Channel change delays are normal for the Theater 550-based cards as well (Google for some of the reviews). From what I've read, it's the digital tuner chips that account for more of the channel change delay than the specific "Theater" chip, which does the video processing and not the channel tuning anyway. My 8500DV was always slower changing channels than my Phillips-analog-tuner-based TV Wonder PCI card is.

Sad Same Problem, Just Upgraded

Same problem with the X600 too. I've tried everything. Sticking to gaming for the time being or trying to get a different card.

System Specs

I remember reading that earlier versions of the MMC didn't have the problem with the older AIW's

Those with the new cards that have the digital tuners in them are just slower in switching...

I read somewhere that the newer drivers buffer video and audio before hand. Somebody was having issues with channel switching lag and they emailed ATI and at which time there were informed Ati's latest drivers do this very thing. I am not sure if this is related to the issue you guys are having but it's worth a try. Maybe change back to a lower version of MMC...hope that helps..

I ran into this problem and was told it was because the X600 scans and used the digital signal.
The older cards just used the analog part of the signal.
So it came down to since there is always a delay on the digital tv, there will be a delay on the newer tv capture devices.

I dunno, but it sounded good to me...

That's normal....that's what you get with a digital tuner.... its normal.....

Knowing that, its probably being helped by newer WDM drivers and what not.

But it is completely normal.

No reason to freak.
