aiw 8500 dv new install advise
Can i get some advise. I own several aiw 8500 dv's. I am going to upgrade the wife computer and put in one of them. I could put in the ati 4.1 catylist and the 9.02 mmc that I have. Or what do we think would a newer Catylist driver be better. Ati not real clear on this. Any roccomedations on the order to put all this in or just use the combined with the control center.
any help sure would be nice. In the past putting in ati drivers and updates a real pain. I usuallly dont put in the dvd support because ati's never quite worked right. I will use either the one from nero or power dvd's Thanks in advance for your help |

Welcome to DriverHeaven windie44...
For the install order Judas has already picked it through in the second post in this thread: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/all-wonder-tv-video-capture/67040-ati-pc-check-app-nearly-worthless.html As for the driver, I use the Omegadrive version of the Cat 4.12s at present with MMC7.9, and use PowerDVD for DVD playback - all with flawless results. Whatever version of MMC you go with, be sure it is for your particular AIW model - they are picky... The latest consensus from those I trust though is to avoid MMC 9.06 - for now... If you decide to use a different MMC version, be sure to grab the correct version of the associated files (WDM, DAO, etc.) and read the release notes at ATI's web site. They give an install order there too I think... Happy installing! And if you have any problems please post back - we're here to help if we can.
