AIW 9800 pro + winXP SP2 + catalyst 5.5 issues
Just installed Winxp SP2(fresh install) and catalyst 5.5 and my TV is horrible. specifically while scrolling in IE 6, the TV will skip and stutter.
While running XP pro no service packs and an older driver it worked great, I could even play games and other system intensive programs and it would never skip. anyone else run in to this? It's driving me crazy, I've tried switching back to older drivers, older MMC, everything I can think of short of going back to XP with no service packs.

I had issues with a similar setup and read about a workaround... check out this thread http://www.hardwareheaven.com/all-wonder-tv-video-capture/75650-p4c800-e-deluxe-aiw-9800-pro-xp-sp2-hyperthreading.html and let us know if it helps.

Try going into the MMC setup and run the Initialization Wizard again.

Even if you format? I don't see the drivers that Windows installs would be any problem. What do you think?

It could be, esp. with SP2 cause i used a SP@ slipstreamed disk, and the AGP driver messed with my mobo's AGP driver causing hardlocks

I think I'm just going to uninstall everything and go back to my old drivers. catalyst 5.5 can't be worth all this work. |

Just covering the bases... is the line-out from the ati card going into your audio line-in? This wasn't required when you were using the NSP drivers.
I don't know how ATI has let this problem survive for like 3 releases already. Quote:

catalyst 5.6 has the same problem. I tried changing the NSP driver again and this time it worked since I have the cable plugged into the right slot now.
for some reason it seems my audio quality got worse after changing that driver though.... From an old catalyst to the new 5.6 without the NSP.

I prefer the older drivers that did the analog in rather than digital through the PCI bus. Problem is getting it to work on 5.1 speakers

I read through this thread, and the one referred to in the first page top few posts...
I have some questions regarding this NSP driver... Should anyone have any time... Here's the skinny: I have a AIW 9700 Pro. Running on a Asus A7V600 mobo Windoze XP SP2. Now, I'm sure that it's the NSP drivers that you are referring to previously that are causing the choppy channel changing, and the loss of synch between audio of the TV Tuner and a regular house TV playing on the same channel. I have noticed this since Catalyst 5.3. - Where the only change in installation I saw was the NSP WDM driver installation and that the audio line in was no longer requested. What exactly were the changes made that are causing this loss of synch? Is it the fact that the drivers are now processing the audio digitally as posted above? Is that why the installation no longer requests that you specify where the audio is coming from? (Ie. The Line In from the Audio Out of the Video Card?) I see that the Catalyst 5.7 drivers are now out. Will these drivers fix the NSP WDM issue with the audio synch with a regular tv? The reason this is so freakin important to me is that me and my wife watch the same TV shows. She watches the TV while I'm usually at my computer. It's driving the BOTH of us freakin NUTS when the audio synch is off by a second or so... It's just really annoying. I read about the memory performance enhancements for the new 5.7 drivers and really want to be able to upgrade from the 5.2 drivers and MMC 9.03 to the new 5.7 and MMC 9.08. Anywho - if the 5.7 driver doesn't fix the NSP problem, and I change where the driver is pointing to for the NSP part and load the default WDM driver. Should I still be able to use the 5.7 and MMC 9.08 with no problems? I just don't want to lose the synch in the audio. The delay... It's bad. After repeated e-mails to ATI they seem uninterested in helping... |

Note: I Have not tried schedualed recording but I did try it and my shell crashed....however this wasn't MMC's direct fault, more of me being a bone head.

Install Cat 5.7, install the latest chipset drivers, install the latest sound drivers,
install the required DAO, install the latest MMC, install windows media encoder 9, get all windows updates... you've done all these things?

aiw 9800 tv capture - no solutions for a year
I haven't been able to install the latest ccc/mmc drivers for the last year without having problems with TV capture. All recent games run fine (fast enough for me) given the limitations of the card. But TV capture freezes after about 15 minutes in windowed mode and about one hour in fullscreen mode. MMC can not be shut down when this happens, although other programs can be run. Note that with the original drivers TV was just fine, but, of course, recent games will not run, e.g., the night vision goggles in splinter cell:ct don't work. ATI support is a joke for help and I haven't found anything googling.I've no problems with disk space, memory use, cpu use, temperature increases or voltage fluctuations. In fact, the recent games (eg, b-i-a, hl2) stress much more. I've tried running bare bones services and background processes, playing with resolution and color depth settings. Nothing makes any difference in the right direction. All the latest drivers for my board are installed. XP sp2 is up to date. Event record error shows: "SRB command failed; WDM." (I think this just means that the OS didn't know what to do after the mmc freeze.) Any suggestions? asus p4s800d-e; p4 northwood 3.2; 1MB; wd 1200jb; 120 GB sata; onboard sound or audigy2; |

I've tried all of this stuff even from a clean install. My problem is that once the NSP driver is installed, I can't get it to update to the SP driver. XP refuses to allow this.

Then you have to turn off the driver protection tool.
You can just uninstall the device with the NSP driver, then say that it has to use the driver you want by choosing "Dont search, I will choose the driver" |
