installation cd
I lost my CD. Anyone know where I can download an iso image for an AIW9800? Buying one would be a last resort.

What exactly do you need from it, most of the stuff you can download from ATI

The only reason I can think he would need is for the DVD decoder, but who actually uses ATI's DVD Player?

Yup, it's for the DVD decoder. I just want the option of using the DVD player if I need to. So anyone?

If I remember correctly it looks at your CD, and downloads the decoder. This maybe fine, and dandy until next time you would like to upgrade to a newer version. Hmm, I wonder if it matters what CD it is? I have a Gecube so I'm not sure if that will work or not. It shouldn't be too much hassle to ISO the install CD, and upload it for you at one of the free upload sites. I guess I can try but it might be awhile before I have it ready. Have to remember how to make ISO's and actually find my CD. LOL.

Well in that case it may be like SecuRom or something and need an actual CD and not an ISO....

I have an officiall ATI 9800 CD and I can say for a fact by checking myself that there is no copyright protection on it so you can make a generic ISO file and it will work. They use simple checking methods. Not like there is anything special anyways. It's only a version of a cyberlink PowerDVD decoder made for ATI.

Any hardware DVD decoder package will work, the ATI specific one doesn't honestly do that much in the way of making the movie better or anything

well, he is a lucky man to have found a CD. I too need the CD. I have the CD but my 2 year old got his hands on it and scratched it up. I just reformatted my hdd only to find out can't install the decoder since my dvd-rom can't read the disk. My video capture scheduler to capture his barney and dora programs won't work. I suspect it's related to the decoder. Any help is appreciated. ATI wants $13 for the disk and I think it's BS.

Can you use a disc repair kit? I can send the decoder file that it wants downloaded (but that just tells you you need the disk
)

to copying your windows CD and serial and giveing it to someone. Each replacement cd is like $10 at ati's website for a reason they licence the DVD decoder from someone. It not made by ATI. People that have 3rd party cards seem to look for the CD as well as people who bought second hand cards with out the CD. If you damaged the CD well you should of put it up or kept it better Not really ati's fault.... The ATI CD acts as "verification" ... It just a "player" codec anyways shouldn't be realeated to your recording issues... You can however freely use things like the kazza lite mega codec pack and includes a DVD decoder... Should work fine... just look in the options http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm#klmcodec Make sure you install the latest DAO, MMC, WDM Etc from... http://www2.ati.com/drivers/9-08_mmc_uci.exe http://www2.ati.com/drivers/9-08_mmc_enu.exe http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-7_xp-2..._enu_24085.exe You also need windows media encoder 9 from the MS website. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx

You only NEED the ecoder if you plan on encoding to WMP9 in real time otherwise its just more bloat.

Well, I actually have PowerDVD 6.0 installed so I would think I have a decoder installed. I just can't figure out why my scheduler is not working as prior. I went to the extent of reformatting my hdd and reinstalled everything but same occurs. I probably need to do a little search on this forum to see if someone else have same problem.

. I didn't realized ATI has updated the driver and so used 9.08. I just uninstalled 9.08 and reinstalled 9.06.1 that I have backed up awhile back and it works perfectly. If you were a girl/woman, I'd send you flowers. But I think you are a guy so I give you thumbs up and say "thanks, man" |

hey, you saved me lots of time and hair because I can't figure out why the scheduler won't work. Didn't realize it's a bug and I was using the older version just fine. Didn't realize they had updated to new version so didn't think it's a bug problem. Thought I was using the same version (9.06.1) as prior. Anyway, thanks again.
