Hello
I recently bought a Radeon AIW 9800PRO card (until now I was running on nVidia) and I do not know very much about ATI (except that is good :P ). My problem is that I installed the drivers and the software but, I do not have sound at some 40 channels (the image is clear and sharp but I only get some static noise-like when is no transmission). I receive some 65-70 channels from my cable operator and from 20 of them I have sound and all is ok but from the rest ....no sound. I installed the latest software and drivers from ATI's site)catalyst 5.7 and MMC9.8) but nothing. Than I uninstalled everything and installed the soft and drivers from the original CD. Again only static noise. Isn't there any option to "fine tune" the channels or something? What is the problem??? Previously I had a nVidia Ti card and a separate TV tuner and everything worked fine. Please help me!!! I'm desperate!!! Thanx |

Check your coaxial connection perhaps? Odd problem to say the least

Anything special about those channels? Are they digital channels by chance?

Yes, that's right. I get very good image but the sound is like when is no transmission (that "hssssssssss").
And NO, the channels are not digital and there is nothing special about them. Another odd thing is that I installed a third party TV Tuner program (Chris TV) and I got the same problem (first 15 channels ar ok but from the rest I get image but the sound is bad). Anyone??? Any ideas??? Help please.... |

Like I said, it could be the coax cable you're using is too long or somehow messed up but other than that its weird :| Do you have another tuner you can try?

Like I said, YES, I have my old TV tuner that worked fine. As a matter of fact it is working fine right now because I installed it back because I cannot use the AIW like this, with only 10-15 channels. I thought buying an AIW 9800PRO is an upgrade but like it looks it is more like an downgrade...
((I'm very sad and dissapointed... |
