Capture file has no sound! Help!

I have the ATI AIW 9000 card and soundblaster live sound card. Running on a Dell Dimension 8300 w/ 2.6 gh processor and 512mb ram. I have my HI 8 video camera hooked up to the ATI and the ATI connected to the sound card. I get sound when I play the video but when I play the mpeg file, there is no sound and WMP give the error message "error downloading codec" I downloaded the latest XP Codec pack and have the latest ATI Catalyst control center installed. I am running Ulead DVD Movie factory 3 and have audio capture on. I just don't know what else to do! This is not by any means a user-friendly process. I have spent over time, hours playing with this and have become beyond frusterated! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to connect Audio Out from your video camera directly to your audio Audio In from sound card.
When you make capture you can hear some sounds from your movie ??

I think this confirms it, BKB. Your problem is coded related.

Out of curiosity do you have the ATI DVD encoder installed? That might help for whatever odd reason.

And can you find out which codec it wants downloaded under the error details?

I downloaded and installed the latest ATI Multimedia center which includes the lates DVD Decoder and now when I play the capture file, it play under the ATI file player, but still no sound. Keep in mind also, I downloaded the latest XP codec package as well. I'm not sure this issue is codec related, but I just don't have a clue what else I can do. I feel like I'm at a dead end with this. (ughh!!)

Thanks for you assistance and feel free to add any other thoughts or ideas.
