No Sound With ATI AIW

I bought a ATI All-In-Wonder AIW 9000 Pro 64MB Low Profile Card to go in my Dell 4600C. I got it off ebay and it didn't have any softwear with it. I have loaded the driver from Dell support and Multimedia Center 7.7 from ATI. I can view TV on the monitor but get no audio. I've ordered Part Number 6110004801 and pluged it into the line In on the sound card and set Sound Initialization Wizard to line in. Still no audio. I then ordered Internal audio connector Part Number 6110006000 and pluged it into cd in on internal sound card from ATI card. Set Sound Wizard to cd player and still no audio. I'm at a loose now. My operating system is Windows XP.
I've tried to load different drivers from ATI with no success. Does the driver from Dell work with xp, or does it require media edition? Or is it software I need that didn't come with the card. Any help someone can give to get me in the right direction would be appreicated.

I would say download the latest version from ATI (MMC and all) and then see

Use driver cleaner too

Pay close attention to the installation order at ATI's site (read the release notes for the different components) and the instructions for the DriverCleaner too. Hope you get it going - and post back with any results - OK?

The only combination of driver and MMC that I can get to load and get TV picture are Dell Video:ATI 64MB All-in-Wonder 9000 Driver and MMC-7-7-0-1-noDVD.exe.
When I try to load Catalyst from ATI it gives me INF error Video driver not found.
Any later version MMC and I get an error when I try to open TV.
When I go to Device Manager and look at The ATI WDM's all are functioning properly. I think it has something to do with getting the sound from the ATI card to my sound card???
Anyway thinks for the response and I did go back and try more combinations of downloads but this is the only one that will even start to work.

If you get an inft error it means the card isn't recognized...

Is it a standard 9000 AiW or some dell thing?

I think its a card built for Dell but I'm not sure. As I said I bought it on ebay without any documentation. It's P/N 102A 0260310 085556 if that means anything to you. Here is an update on problem. Tried connecting svideo from VCR to ATI and audio to line in on sound card. Works great like this by changing channel on the VCR. I don't know how to get the audio from the ATI card to sound card.

Maybe then the sound part of the card is damaged or not working properly...if that method works then you might wanna stick with that, until you can find another solution.

One thing you can try is to hook up the audio connector from the AIW cable to a set of speakers, or something that will accept an input for audio using that 1/8th jack. This will tell you if the card is actually outputting sound or not. It could either be defective as Hex mentioned, or as simple as a config problem with the AIW software.

If you can seem to find a solution, though, definatly give ATIs tech support a call. They would have a better understanding (we hope) of what might be the problem.

Edit: I noticed THIS piece of help on ATIs site. If the link doesn't work (can happen cuz of the secured nature of their site now) do a search for "no sound" on their site, and choose the first listing that pops up.

It should be noted that with the more current WDM audio capture codec you no longer need to hook up the passthrough audio conntector, however I don't know if this is only for AIW 9600s and up. I had setup a system with one of these today, and that was mentioned in the install guide.

unfortunately, it's not a "normal" radeon 9000 card. It's based on the ATI mobility chip, so ATI basically tells you to go get support from the vendor (Dell).

I've tried getting the lastest drivers from ATI and modding the INF. This works just fine, but I always get a WDM device error (duplicate name) which means I can't use the tuner portion, so right now, I'm stuck using older driver software (driver from Dell, older MMC from ATI)

Sounds like you have what I have and it works. How are you getting the sound from the ATI card to the sound card or is it all softwear? I'm not sure where the audio out is for the low profile AIW! Also which windows version are you using?
