Radeon All-in-wonder capture

I have a Radeon All-in-Wonder card and the last two sets of capture drivers that came with the 6200 and 6218 XP driver releases have not worked properly. When caputring video it works for a while then just stops. When you try to start it again, it captures nothing and the Photo captrue is also dead until you reboot. Also some times the Photo capture works for a while then just quits. You have to reboot to get it working again.

The last one that works good was 6125v5

Anyone know a fix?

Hi Garfield,

Catalyst 2.4 and 2.5 buggered something for older AIW and Vivo radeon cards. I think it is actually the WDM drivers.

Some peeps have tried doing combo installs and have had sucess. They used the WDM drivers from Cat 2.3 with the display drivers from 2.4 and 2.5. I haven't tried it myself and don't feel comfortable doing it.

Be sure to blast ATI support with your problem. It seems the older cards are not receiving the support promised with ATI's unified driver set.

USE CATALYST 2.3's

Catalsyt 2.3 driver set is the best driver out pretty much for the All-in-wonder Radeon 8500/DV. I have had absolutely no problems with that driver release and everything works that I have used.

here are my specs for my server/audio & video computer.

Antec sx-1030B
Antec PP-510D Power Supply

I had problems with IWD 2 with Cat 2.3. 2.4 fixed this problem but then capturing didn't work. Since I play more games than capture I stuck with 2.4.

I have recently upgraded to 3.0a and now I can capture again and IWD 2 still works. I know of some peeps who still have problems but I think its related to DirectX 9. I haven't made the move yet and I can't see any reason to do so at this time. Maybe when I get a game that requires DX 9 I'll switch. I'll probably have a new video card by that time though.
