I haven't had the computer lock up itself.. just the TV MMC. At which point audio usally dies.. and that's when i know i've got no choice but to hit the reset as if i try to shutdown any other way..... MMC refuses to shutdown and windows just keeps doing the End process now and can't shut it down.....
RESET I've had this happen within 30 minutes. .and other times not for days on end.... MUTE being left on increases the chance of it happening sooner.....

That is also what I get Judas.
It stays covering the desktop with a frozen screen, no sound and reset is the only way out. At other times it loses the sound and nothing but a reboot will cure it. The time frame for me seems to be an hour or so usually of solid use. When you say Quote:
I have also had it crash when trying to record, trying to close it etc. It has even caused my PC to reboot itself once as well, causing file corruption. Beautiful? NOT!!

I don't get file corruptions...
But it has spontaniously rebooted my machine... and crashes when being started or shutdown... or recording... i can't get the scheduler to even work at all (it will not record at all on the set times. the scheduler keeps crashing and it just all out fails).. Days on end i mean, the TV is open and running... channel it's on may vary... but it's always running (and outputting to the TV both video/audio).. that actual physical TV is turned of but all apps and things are left running on the computer... (multiple TS servers/UT2004 server atm... other things)

What changes inbetween

I'm just glad i bought my AIW X800XT as my last AGP card before I make the move to PCIe. Guess what, from my experience with the AIW part of this card, I think my next card will NOT be an AIW solution. I think it will be a dedicated piece of hardware with the software reliability to back it up = (

Does anyone know if anyone from ATI has seen this thread? I'd be interested to know as it seems they must be getting an inordinate amount of complaint from users

hello forum !
good to see that i am not the only one with this ATI AiW problems...! my gear: Club3D - ATI "All In Wonder" 9600 Pro, Dual Head, 128 MB, AGP 8x i got the same crashes of TV-application; freezing the screen, losing audio and the only way to restart ist pressing the "reset"-button because "windows" won't do by itself. and there is the same mysterious entry in the system events log: Ereignistyp: Warnung Ereignisquelle: ati2mtag Ereigniskategorie: WDM Ereigniskennung: 1049 Datum: 14.12.2005 Zeit: 19:05:39 Benutzer: Nicht zutreffend Computer: X Beschreibung: SRB command failed – SRB_GET_DEVICE_PROPERTY Daten: 0000: 00 00 00 00 01 00 5a 00 ......Z. 0008: 01 00 00 00 19 04 00 80 .......€ 0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ If you're using the latest drivers, its likely the crappy digital WDM drivers they include with the CD

i sat up the AiW-card in several different mainboards, and always with the latest drivers - all time the same problem... there's a bug in the "radeon"-chipset, bios or drivers/software, exactly dunno. modern computer components are build using "modules", just improving some features, and if there's a bug in hard- or software it's carried about 4 to 5 generations since today. and "ATI" has no competition to fix it, very poor support (the same poor support like "HAUPPAUGE"; they did not told me before that their PVR-cards won't work in dual-CPU-systems and i had to buy another card... $300.- thrown out of the window) - my next TV-/video-card will be NO "ATI", if they are not able to fix it in the next update. just my 2 cents... future_former |

I think its just poor drivers and I do agree that there is no motivation for them to fix it..... I guess the uniqueness of the AiW series is a double edged sword like that.
I'm debating personally weather to get a TV tuner card so I can watch TV.... wonder if I'd have problems with just a tuner card |

i buyed the "ATI AiW 9600 Pro" because i had massive probs with a former used "HAUPPAUGE WinTV PVR" - the hauppage wasn't able to work correctly with dual-cpu-systems, and had nearly the same prpblems as the ATI-card... +++ the 9600 pro is a dual-monitor card, and the first time it was possible to watch TV on the second screen was after a driverupdate before a half year (drivers 6.14 & MMC 9.02). and i remember my odyssee just about 1,5 years before when i tried to set up the card without knowing i need the "directx 9.0C"-fix... i phoned with Club3D in netherlenads, paid about $30 for telephone bills and needed 2 (!) weeks to find the solution by the help of some very unknown helpforum - the ATI FAQ nor the M$ KB wasn't helpful in this case.perhaps someone here in THIS forum has a good contact @ATI and could send this thread directly to them. my hope is that they will TRY to find & fix the error when they see so many people getting mad with the problem... they sold "a working product" and i will give it back to my dealer if ATI won't get it working. i am very pissed. future_former |

Another thing that peeves me off - why sometimes is it cheaper to buy say an X800XL and a TV wonder vs. an AiW X800XL?

I have had good fortune with a NF7-S, Mobile 2600, and Gigabyte R9200 with a ATI "TV WONDER" at least I think so I have it to my Mom's in Montana for the past three months and I dodn't know how much she uses it.
I just won a Freecom DVB-T USB stick an am wondering about it. I have not recieved it yet. http://www.freecom.com/ecNewsitem.asp?ID=4121

See that makes me wonder though, if you can do just fine with a TV tuner card and a separate video card, why not an AiW?

I tell you when I bought my AIW 9600XT it was my most expensive card till my X800 Pro. I do not go highend because of budget, so it really hurt when this card did not perform.
Not me again. Never happen!

Well, add my name to the list. I just installed an X600 Pro last night and the TV window locked up after 5 minutes or so. Had to reboot cuz I couldn't end the task. Same old story.
I'm curious, though. Has anyone here tried the drivers at OmegaDrivers.net? I found one post somewhere that said those drivers solved their TV viewing problem. I'm not at home right now (where my new PC is) or I would have tried it myself. Max. |

On another note, the sound card I put in my new PC is an Audigy 2 ZS PLatinum. I noticed in your signature you have the same thing, but with "modded" drivers. What does that mean and what benefits do you get from the modded drivers? I'll post my results tonight. Max. |

Probs with ATI card
Hello,
I joined this forum after searching for a long time for a decent place to understand AIW probs. I thought I was alone. I am happy to hear I am not alone, but sad to hear no one ever fixed his/hers problems. I have 2 problems that one I have mentioned in another forum: * colored stripes after 10 min of playing a heavy graphical game (Call of Duty 2, Rome total war). * srb_get_Device_property: My tv input from the Composite jitters and drops frames while viewing (not while capturing) and looks terriable. It seems that my card doesn't caputre the tv fast enough. It looked inetrlaced but in a horrible forum. This is noticable only during fast movemont, during normal movies - you can barely see it. I know it is not a problem of PAL-B, NTSC, etc (Cause I checked it all). I thought it was the power cord that leads to the Graphic card (internal) and I have changed that one. It helped for a while and then got worse again. Look, i believe it is 2 reasons that both are hardware problems because ATI didn't build their cards correctly: 1. The DC power that is inputed should be extremely "DC" that means, no major ups and downs in the DC source. I believe if I would buy a good reliable power source, it will be fixed. 2. Some important chip that ATI bought, like the memory on the boards, or the oscillator on the clock is a cheap quality hardware and that couses it to work bad on most machines. I believe you cannot fix this by reinsatlling drivers and all this other software that you can find on the web. BUT> I believe you can fix it by buying the correct computer. And I believe we should buy a decent power source and make sure the computer is connected to the ground. What do you think? |

guylevin... our AIW probs do not have issues with Games (3d graphics wise).. it's strictly the AIW portion..
If you are getting colored stripes after a short period of time.. it's very likely there is either A a power problem ( not specific to the cable.. but perhaps the power supply you are using.. but still unlikely)... or B which is a completely defective card. BTW... i've used the Omega drivers and they do not solve the issue.... omega drivers are strickly for the game drivers... not TV... capture.. ...

Yeah I mean on Omega's site you get a link to ATI's own WDM drivers which is just as useless
