Lots of text, doing fix is actually easy, your 16:9 will work after that. Some of you newest AIW's will have to try. Please post if it does or even if it doesn't work, Help your Buddies out

I'd try it but right now I need this machine to be 100% functional, can't have half done driver installs and what not.
When I get time I will try it and see how the X800XT batch of AiW's fare with it |

You'll enjoy this. Clean SP2 up2 date etc. I put CAT 5.11DispDrvr/DAO../WDM - per my sequence and as I remembered WDM_SP Video "REFUSED" to go. Screw You ya mfsobp of .., Got out my CAT 2.5 CD, Upgraded WDM_NSP to WDM_XP >>>> IT APPEARS THIS DRIVER MUST BE DIGITALLY SIGNED BY M$ BEFORE IT WILL CHANGE !!!!<<<<<<<<<!!! IT TOOK. I finished the set with CAT4.10 DVD Decoder and MMC 9.02. It ALL WORKS, look at THAT !! MIX
![]() ![]() . Getting the NSP Video out MUST be done with the "compatible Hardware UNCHECKED and BE PERSISTANT, NSP is NOT compatible here. Have a nice weekend folks.Update, now 3 hrs later, PC loaded up, TV been on 2 hours, played 1/2 a DVD. Even got GUIDE PLUS on and working, TV shows with IE6 like old days. GENTLEMEN, I am using 2002 CAT 2.5 WDM_XP, it shows as WDM_SP, DRIVER HELL. I don't mean to bore you, just interesting that it is SO FICKLE, If ya get'r working, Clone the SOB. Yea, My CD has CAT 2.5 all, THAT WDM_XP, YES XP will work in CAT 4.10,5.10,5.11 if you PRAY for Devine HELP. It installs into XP SP2 as WDM_SP... Moderators THANK YOU. Do you have suggestions to get more AIW exposure. The more we get may shake loose ideas, get together and bust down ATI's door, lol. I told Mr X at ATI I WOULD FLY to Toronto and SHOW THEM, Screw the cold and Snow.

Again, nice work kbuzzard... Gonna stick this.
Wondering, I've been using a 9600XT with the ATI TV Wonder PCI card - key here is that is does NOT have a Rage Theatre chip - it uses the Brooktree capture chip - so the WDM NSP/SP issue does not apply to me and that seems to be where the problem for those that have AIWs with Rage Theatre chips and recent model tuners (AIW 9000 and forward) are having issues... Based upon your extensive testing, shouldn't those who get the MMC/TV/Capture stuff set up be able to update the video driver component alone (so long as the WDM is not changed) without affecting functionality of the tuner/capture portions? I would think yes, because that is essentially what I have been doing for a long time now - but I'm asking for your confirmation considering what you have been through. I realize this may sound redundant - just trying to summarize and clarify... You see, I've been an Omegadrive driver fan for years - and he has intentionally left out the WDM from his drivers since before DriverHeaven existed. However, ATI has been and does now include the WDM as part of the video driveset since the advent of their Catalyst series driversets. I've always wondered why the WDM has been included with the video driver (for VIVO owners and as a convenience to 'unify' the driverset, I would guess) rather than as a separate download or as part of the MMC software instead. I've been able for years to set up the MMC software and functionality and have it work without issue while upgrading the video driver many times using Omegadrive's driversets. I had been using MMC 7.9 for the past couple years (since Windows XP came out...) and only recently have gone to the MMC 9.03. I got that set up fine, then used Omegadrive's driversets for the video driver part. I KNOW that the WDM is left alone by using Omegadrive's video driversets. Maybe just downloading the video driver and the CCC individually (which is available from ATI) while leaving the WDM out of the upgrade process would help... That still leaves us to deal with the issues of uninstalling the previous driver and CCC (or just the old ATI Control Panel) without touching the WDM stuff... This process really should be easier somehow...

I would certainly agree with you, I find little problems with the Display drivers regardless of the CAT OR Omega #, VERY true. Following your path, it really doesn't seem to matter what WDM you use, Proof Of Point, I,As I type have CAT 5.11dd/dao/ccc with 2003 ATI CD WDM_XP, YES I said XP WDM running on my VERY up to date SP2 (closer to SP3) speed tweaked etc and ALSO using CAT 4.10 MMC !!!!!!!!. I only include so much info as a clue that YOUR hardware, software set=up May OR May - Not work, If it doesn't, Try another. Alsp I HIGHLY agree that changing Display Driver alpne will probably work. THAT IS exactly what I was doing until ROXIO V8 totally scrambled my OS. Hell for me started putting a new set-up back together, hense- all my posts. my History so to speak.
P.S. Simply WDM Drivers 4.10 and before have "NO" WDM_NSP contained, MMC 9.02 has all the goodies, without the crap, this is also part of CAT 4.10 CAT 5.11 and UP , "I" find NOT a big boost for AIW 9600 Therefore I CHOOSE Cat 5.11dd/dao/ccc CAT **2.5 YES*** WDM_XP from MY ATI CD plus CAT 4.10 DVD (Almost all have the SAME 5.71 meg dl size- hummm !! and MMC 9.02, Been running GREAT !!!!!!! f*ck this. I've done everything I can to get this damn AIW to work. I've tried every combination of drivers and every combination of system configuration. Tuner still won't work and system locks up when using 3d applications. ATI has lost my business, and I don't care about you folk that say 'well all the other non-AIW cards run beautifully...' well I don't care. The chain is as strongest as it's weakest link, and if ATI's AIW have to use 4 year old drivers and sheer luck to work, then why market them? These cards seem to have no real work done on them, aside from 'shove as many features as we can so people will buy it'. I don't think I can get newegg credit, so I'm hoping that the lockups (noone else seems to have them) are because of my particular card, but I've told as many people as I could that the AIW really suck. And it still infuriates me that the card makes my BIOS reset.
I'm not sure how to express my deep frustration to ATI right now without getting banned. If anyone has any ideas as to why this card is acting so (the lockups), can ye help me? |

I'm reading your post and am about to falls a sleep, late. Let me sleep on that. I guess you are trying to run 2 video cards, ATI AIW is finiky alone. I would probably start by simplifying your set-up, add Vid drivers and move along. I have a Hauppauge Nexus-s on my PC with the AIW 9600 and CANNOT play both at once, 2 video cards has got to load the system pretty hard. More when I'm alert

Eh my AiW packaging says I can add another ATI Tuner and be able to do PiP and all that....
What are AiW's racist against other brands? ![]() I always wanted to try 2 tuners but never had the cash spare |

Yea but ya gotta get one of them working right, leave alone 2, lol. lmao,
. Actually TV Wonder easier as it doesn't use WDM's, My old ( Now Wifes) PC has TVW and she use'n CAT5.12dd,MMC9.08 on P3 600, works GREAT. I have thought about one day yanking her card and trying that. btw, this has been tedious trying this and that, I bought 4 matching 40 gig Maxtor SATA-150's so I can have 2 OS's ie 1-SP1 setup and 1SP2 setup EACH with a Clone and 2 120 gig SATA 150's for "G" drives. I DON"T EVER WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL THIS S_IT AGAIN. I use my SATA 1 and 2 as "C" and "G", with my HDDS external. am working on 4 way switch array to make this REAL easy. I have mentioned previous, "CasperXP" is a 2.5 meg program that will 100% CLONE your "C" drive and make playing easier when you don't have to worry about losing your Operating system set-up, Absolute speed on RAIDS makes no sense to me vs Redundant back-up capability, but I'm a NFS all guy, anyway.

9.13 out?
I just got a response to a ticket I sent in like 3 weeks ago? They recommend MMC 9.13 would fix the NSP issue!
Trying out now!

Would you then recommend ANYONE installing any AIW cards freshly with Windows XP Pro SP2 the following installation method: 1: Freshly install Windows XP Pro SP2 onto a freshly formated HD 2: Install all latest motherboard chipset drivers and windows updates 3: Using ATI's catalyst full installation, Instead of choosing Typical install, select Advanced, and uncheck WDM installation 4: After reboot, insert the ATI CD that came with your AIW (for 9800 pro or older) and choose to install the driver, select Advanced and uncheck the Driver and Control Panel, leaving WDMs checked (for those with newer cards, download an archived catalyst version 4.12 or older version and apon installing, clicked advanced and uncheck the driver/control panel leaving the WDMs selected).. 5: install all the other AIW related drivers required. Then the MMC software. Would you say this is the best method? If not, could you do a simple detailed similare to the above step setup?

WOW, I am terrible at trying to get whats in my "burnt" noodle to this text so you can understand it and keep is short and simple. Actually I have now done this better than 2 dozen times and the "IMPORTANT" thing is Swapping out the "ATI WDM Rage Theater Video NSP for the SP. HERES THE KEY ISSUE, WHAT ATI REFUSES TO GET OUT !!!!
Go to DEVICE MANAGER, Find "Sound,Video and Game Controllers" NOW right click on IT and you have a box open with the option "upgrade Driver" click On it, I REALLY NEED a PICTORIAL, At next Window, click "No, Not This Time" now NEXT. New window, click on "install from a list or specific location(Advanced)" and NEXT, New window, Click on"Don't search.I will choose the driver to install" and NEXT. NOW YOU ARE AT ATI's SCREW UP courtesy of Microsoft- You should be at the "Hardware Update Wizard". FOLKS, Just below the Speaker Icon you will see a little check box that says "Show Compatible Hardware" WHEN IT IS CHECKED YOU "CANNOT PICK ANYTHING BUT "ATI WDM Rage Theater Video NSP" NOW, JUST UNCLICK THAT little BOX and "WATCH" your NEW OPTIONS. Now Folks, depending on YOUR AIW, you need to FIND ATI WDM Rage Theater Video SP and get it installed. IF YOU CAN"T, BE sure your choice is "Digitally Signed" or SP2 won't let you install it. AT this point, Your ATI CD may be YOUR SOURCE for that WDM_SP OR even WDM_XP WILL WORK. I have done more research than I needed and based on that, Once you get WDM_SP installed, Finish DVD Decoder, MMC. Frankly MMC newer than 9.02 seems to be nothing but issues. I hope this is clearer. If not, let me know, maybe My wife's nice Nikon and I can work a pictorial here. |

I REALLY SUCK at doing this, I'm sorry. GET RID OF NSP, and play around, try different Display Drivers ( They aren't critical) IT DOES HELP TO GET WDM_SP INSTALLED BEFORE INSTALLING Any more Drivers. You MUST install DVD Decoder before MMC or DVD Won't show up in the MMC menu ???, Their Drivers are SOOOOO finiky. CAT 5.13 DD/DAO/WDM_XP ( changes to SP ONCE INstalled, Don't ask ME WHY) CAT 4.10 DVD/MMC has been working excellent as well. WDMs of CAT 4.10 or lower DO NOT HAVE WDM_NSP contained. NOTE - Getting WDM_NSP swapped out is VITAL,
CAT # Below 2.5 to 4.10 was XP SP1 (No WDM_NSP), 4.11 was XP SP2 and about CAT 4.12 MCE shows up and has SP and NSP

Well I tried the latest everything from ATI including the Remote drivers which it took about 15 tries to get to work and............................................... ......................... so far , touch wood for luck, they seem to work.......
I get a static sound coming and going when viewing TV and there is a delay when compared to the TV I have in the same room but it is the best performance I have had to date so........ Even GuidePlus! seems to be ok at the moment. That is the only app from my install disk that I used. Everything else is the latest Cat's and MMC except the Control Panel which I installed from the last release it came with. The Control Center has given me too much grief to consider trying it. Will let you know how long it lasts.
