I think I have had it with ATI... a shame, but true. I was a big fan, but the force fed CCC and the non working Vivo software has not impressed me.

Well after a month with my new Nvidia card, I doubt ATI will see my shadow again, my X800 Pro is a great card though, but relegating my AIW to a regular Video card just makes me ticked. wasting my life trying to fix it, wasting my money not being able to us it, wasting my trust by not responding.

I pretty much agree. If you can follow my posts and get nsp out etc, you can probably save your AIW but I ASSURE ya, it has NOT made me an ATI fan and WORSE I pointed out their glitch and they obviously don't give a CHIT. Too BAD. I think there are external forces holding this up such as Motion Picture Assoc and NASCAB and NAB, don't like us being able to TIVO without being $$$. Frankly, I am tired of ATI and MS both, Studying AV course on LINUX myself.

Ok I feel your pain guys. I went through all the hoops for months to get this thing to work without lock-ups, and the best solution I found was posted at Rage3D:

1. Run the Installer (6-1_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_29602.exe). Cancel the install after the files have been extracted to C:\ATI\SUPPORT.

2. Go to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-1_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_29602\WDM_ALL and copy these files, from WDM_SP to WDM_NSP and overwrite the originals:

ativtmxx.dll
ativmvxx.ax
ativmc20.cod
atinrvxx.SYS

3. Delete atinevxx.sys in WDM_NSP.

4. Rename atinrvxx.sys to atinevxx.sys

5. Start the setup.exe from C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-1_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_29602

This will give you the WDM_SP drivers under Windows XP SP2. I haven't installed MMC 9.13 because apparently TV on Demand is constantly "on" with no option of turning it off. So I currently run CAT 6.1, MMC 9.08.

My system setup is:
ASUS P4C800-E-DX
P4C 3.0Ghz
2GB OCZ RAM
AIW X800 XT
Audigy 2

Thumbs Down! Bullsh**

That's what this is, I started bugging ATI though support after 5.3s came out and they changed the audio line to internal. After that my MMC TV always lagged video and sound. That was a 9700AIW, now I upgraded to a new system and a X1800AIW. I expected life to be good, boy was I wrong. TV still lags, and that is just B.S..
It never did that before, 5.3's and I had my old one AIW for years. I agree with the rest of you in saying to ATI "WTF!!!!!"

I just realized that DVD's are now all completely messed up-- in media player classic the navigation is completely gone and the damn things skip back and forth between languages..

WTF.. this crappy ATI software has completely ruined my PC for watching DVD's.. It has taken over all my file associations and will not let go. What a bunch of crap.

Might as well just forget about VIVO.. it's worthless.

Update, none good. Watch CSPAN. The RIAA,NASCAP folks are trying to get "flags" on Recorded Audio and Video - SAD. Consumer Electronics Group fighting sinking ship. I am now fairly concerned that ATI doesn't want to FIX AIW problem for fear of law suits. My Dad was pretty successful TV serviceman mid 50's until mid 70's and HE awaited the day we could get CABLE TV as 'PAYING" for CABLE would eliminate Commercials - RIGHT. Now I PAY to watch Commercilas ESPECIALLY on Sat and Sunday's - WTF !!!!, If I pay for CABLE, Why I have Commercials. NOW, actual TIVO's don't even want US to SKIP Commercials. For those who work on PC's regularly, I helped a Buddy re-furb 30+ Laptops and ya know, XP SP2 REALLY SUX. The ONLY security in it is that M$ gets MORE income and Net Framework 2 or newer will big 'BIG BROTHER". I have had it with ATI - reluctantly , . The days of Recording Audio or Video "DIGITAL" are on the way out, AIW's prettty much with it, Unless of Course you PAY as you record song by song or prog / movie by movie. Watch CSAN for "Digital Media" issues. P.S. My "FIX" continues to hold on SP2 updates to Jan 2006, I have Cloned back-up. If i loose it, BACK TO SP1 !!!!!!!

It's total BS that it breaks you PC when you try to install it though... then upgrading really completely breaks everything having to do with watching DVD's and recording audio/video. It takes over all file associations and won't let go, looks like it will be a pain to clean off the system too.

What a bunch of crap, I mean damn, talk about FALSE ADVERTISING. After this I can say that I have had it with ATI.. I guess they won't miss me anyway, there are many more suckers out there with more money, seems lately that's all they care about. Fix this mess ATI, come on. This whole thing is just ridiculous.

Come to think of it, I'm getting some tax returns back- if I can find a way to upgrade, I think after the deafening silence heard by ATI about this problem, I can just vote with my wallet.

WOW- all I can say is that the installer/uninstaller for all the ATI software related to VIVO has totally F'd all my media files and codecs. along with file associations and the registry. I tried to uninstall all that crap and got ALL kinds of errors about "failed to blah blah registry blah blah.." All the media files are "ATI FILE PLAYER" files now still.. and I cannot get them to un-associate from a program that is no longer installed!

What a bunch of crap.

You have to go into the MMC configuration and select WMP or it won't let go of file associations

I like my AIW, it has problems like other hardware drivers and such..I think most of us are used to that crap by now am I right? but now that I have my AIW I wouldn't go back to a normal video card again..I just like it to much..I am always watching TV now...although they could spruce up the drivers a little more but other that that the AIW series are great cards...especially cool because you have a remote..

Yeah I did that- but it wouldn't let go- I couldn't do it in the program because the damn thing wouldn't start. After I uninstalled the program (which did not work right) it still was messed up.

Finally after working on it for 4 or 5 hours cleaning the registry out and using DCP I got rid of the file association. My Media player classic still as no navigation abilities at all for DVD files. My codecs are screwed. I will probably need to start from scratch to get back to pre-ATI vivo software. I will never install it again. Right now I want to say I will never buy another ATI video card.. maybe I will change my mind, but right now I am pretty annoyed with their crappy software which I used to have great respect for.. After 2005, not so sure.

hmm I have uninstalled my software lots of times and never experienced anything like that..I do know it happens...as for the codec I always keep a app that installs all of them anyway....Like Ace codecs that should fix you up...well for codec anyway... I guess I never really worry about file associations in the manner your speaking..I just use whatever app I want to open the file...I guess it's a big deal if your double clicking the file though..good luck

Yeah but I don't want to have to fix something that was working after I've installed another app....thats why codec packs are a bad solution

all I was saying H3X is I have uninstalled MMC a few times and have never lost codecs or such... Aren't most video player just front ends for whatever codecs you have installed? meaning the plyer cannot affect the codec if removed? I thought that's how it worked...please clarify..
