yeah but with s video and component connections, plus having a cable box and dvd for inputs (can run them through my receiver if needed), I could just use it for songs and movies. Let the other stuff do their thing. I could still record TV and stuff if the software every worked right in the future.

Hello - I need your help with my used ATI 9600 AIW
1. it intermittently 'looses' the sound, only very distorted sound occurs, this most times is curred by a reboot, but fatal, if I going to remotely boot my machine to schedule TV-recording 2. It looses the Channel setting in MMC. I am able to adjust the channel setting in MMC ( I have 34 Channel under PAL-B, Germany, Hamburg) once set, I can see these settings in the MMC, as well as in the registry under key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\MultiMedia\Features\TV\Tuner but after a while (rebooted the machine) , these settings are disappearing from registry, as well as the channel settings in MMC. They even disappear from the channel favorite list (not marked any more) as well as from the visual selection list. 3. It intermittently does not perform the right scheduling - Movie starts approx. 40 minutes after it was scheduled. MY STRONG DEMAND TO ATI: FIX THIS - I love the picture quality of my current AIW 9600 Pro , but as long as it is not working from dthe Driver site as well as from the Application site (MMC/Scheduler) is of no worth at all. What is this a kind of software: Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't ??? My system: Asus A7N8X-X Mobo, Nortbridge: NVIDIA nForce2 400, Southbrifge nForce2 MCP BIOS:1010 Sempron 2800/333 FSB (2.0 Ghz) @ 1.69 Volt (anybody knows how to set it to 1.60V ?) 2,5 GB DDR Ram / 400 Mhz 250GB Matrox IDE/133 ATI Hardware Information: Graphics Card Manufacturer Built by ATI Graphics Chipset ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 SERIES Device ID 4150 Vendor 1002 Subsystem ID 4772 Subsystem Vendor ID 1002 Bus Type AGP Current Bus Setting AGP 8X BIOS Version 008.015.028.000 BIOS Part Number BK-ATI VER008.015.028.000 BIOS Date 2003/07/30 Memory Size 128 MB Memory Type DDR SGRAM / SDRAM Core Clock in MHz 398 MHz Memory Clock in MHz 324 MHz Primary Display Yes ATI Software: Driver Packaging Version 8.221-060124a1-030152C-ATI CATALYST® Version 06.2 Provider ATI Technologies Inc. 2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6599 2D Driver File Path System\ControlSet001\Services\ati2mtag\Device0 Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0379 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.5646 CATALYST® Control Center Version 1.2.2217.17271 AIW/VIVO WDM Driver Version 6.14.10.6325 AIW/VIVO WDM NSP Driver Version 6.14.10.6325 MMC 9.08 with Euro Language on top. 6.2 --> 6.3 shows no sign of improvement namely because the drivers are the exact same I believe.

anyone notice that the x64 6.3's (vivo/wdm) package doesn't have the nessary drivers included in it at all.. it's like running a blank installer... nothing there to install...
forcing us to resort to the 6.2's yet again.. the catalyst/CCC 6.3's work though.... how the hell did ATI miss this?

i think some ati ceo's need to lay the smack down on some AIW/Vivo/MMC software engineers and use some damn buckshot to fire some of the damn people not doing there job worth shit...
how does something gradually get more and more worse every release? i can't even get MMC let alone any of the components related to MMC to load on my x1900xtx just to use the vivo portion... and good luck with using a x1900xt AIW...

I could not get mmc to work right with my AIW 9800 Pro. I wanted to record a tape on my computer. Hooked up the VCR and got a good picture in a window. As soon as I click on record the picture starts to stutter badly. After stopping the recording it proceeds as normal. When I check the recorded file it is 0 bytes, no matter how long I record.
This software sucks. Have they ever released a working AIW software bundle ? I had the same misery with an old 8500 AIW. I won't buy any ATI product anymore. I'm fed up.

I tried the install of the 6.3 WDM in conjunction with 6.3 DD.
DD runs well - but installation of WDM only installs T200 Audio Driver ? This is ridiculous - no WDM Drivers for TV / Video etc. installed by the 6.3 WDM setup !! Hey , goooooooooood shot ! Does ATI ever try to install/use their own Software released on their web-site ? Another two hours of my life time sacrificed to ATIs superb Software quality ! |

Man I got my AIW running perfect, everytime I try To update ANYTHING it doesn't work I get problems big time...so I just leave it alone. I tried Cat 6.3 then my MMC 9.08 won't work..so I tried MMC 9.13 with the reg edit for TV on demand that wouldn't even work for me...so I have to undo all these installs..took about 90 minutes each try and I tried twice...Maybe I am missing something but I know how to install drivers properly...so I am stumped..BTW H3X that reg edit for the MMC so it'll stop the Tv recording all the time seems to work fine..

Hi, I'm another unhappy AIW customer. I own a X1800XL AIW and my video standard (PAL_NC) is not supported by WDM drivers altough the hardware is capable to support it.
ATI: great piece of hardware... it's a pitty the bad quality of ATI drivers and software out there.

One thing I noticed about the 6.3 drivers..is that they unified alot of the AIW type drivers. SO before in the control panel you had ATI WDM this NSP that..when I had 6.3 installed it had just onde unified driver in there..did anyone else notice that?

the previous driver set i've found the same unified driver, but the 6.3's is missing the nsp files required by most ati vivo products... i cannot install the 6.3 Vivo/WDMs... they won't work, hell you try to forcefully install it and it just doesn't work. 6.2 package is required.

Oh I see, install the 6.3's and install 6.2 wdm package is that what you mean? I have 6.2 DHzeropooints installed. Why would they make a new driver release that leaves out these key components for alot of their customer and products?

cause someone who packaged it all up managed to pass it without actually checking it?
and yes.. install the 6.3 driver and CCC package.. then install the 6.2 WDM/Vivo package.. and you'll be good (or should be)

This is so funny... I'm the guy having issues with PAL_NC in WDM drivers...
Kombatant from Rage3D told me that ATI doesn't officially support Argentina video standard. The other day I was looking at ATI page trying to find something I read and I found it. I'll show you the reason of why X1K AIW video cards are being sold in Argentina, I mean... why would anyone sell a card that is not officially supported? The answer is: because we told you that Argentina WAS supported: ![]() http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx1...0xl/specs.html I don't want to contact ATI support with this link because I'm pretty sure they'll edit the specs page and remove Argentina from there

Argentina uses PAL_NC which is compatible with all NTSC TV Tuners. PAL Tuners doesn't work in Argentina.

Monrad, have you tried just accepting it as an NTSC signal?

I need to use NTSC_M, and later in the capture filter, select PAL_NC which is not listed. Of course I've tried every video standard in that list to see if I'd be able to watch TV in black and white. The only video standard that works in black and white without sound is SECAM. Every SECAM video frequency works with the right image size. PAL_N also works, but it displayis blue vertical lines and the image is still in black and white (except for those blue lines). I need to face it, they support my country... but they don't support my video standard. It's not that difficult to understand (?????????)
