Attention unhappy A.I.W & T.V. Wonder owners

After spending weeks scanning forums, formatting drives, trying XP SP1 & 2, DirectX 9c and apparent ties to NET Framework 1.1 & 2.0 as well as CAT drivers (inc OMEGA Display Drivers) it is FACT that we have lost our Support. ATI won't address it, some of their documentation skirts it ( search won't find it! ). I don't have ALL versions of these cards BUT the problems I see are boiling down to here: GO TO: START,SETTINGS,CONTROL PANEL,SYSTEM,HARDWARE,DEVICE MANAGER, Double Click on "SOUND,VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLERS, Now look at your Driver List. IF you have problems i.e. TV Card won't initiate,Channel change is delayed with sound drop and return ( Stutter ) and worst, let it play about 10-20 minutes and it will Crash,Lock up, or REFUSE to respond requiring RESET, not just re-boot and MORE !! I understand with Creative Audio Cards it GETS Worse, I HAVE NO idea what the PC does otherwise BECAUSE IT IS WRONG DRIVERS. You will NO DOUBT SEE this in that LIST:
ATI WDM Rage Theater Video NSP **

**** HERE. NSP Drivers ONLY appear to work for MCE applications etc
ATI WDM Rage Theater Audio **** sometimes involved, sorry, I have NOT run into that. YET.
I AM NOT A GOOD Communicator, So go here and read these issues, You probably will UNDERSTAND http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33835127 ---- PAY ATTENTION TO the fact that the “WRONG” WDM almost ALWAYS INSTALLS INITIALLY

Be sure to Use Driver Cleaner to get rid of old ATI drivers if you must make changes.

NOTE, I built Asus P4 3.0ghz P4P800 Deluxe (sound chip biosed out, Poor bass below 50 hz) TB Santa Cruz, Flat to 10 hz !!, 1gig Kinston pc-4000 ram (OC tested over 1ghz BUTusing @800) 2 Maxtor SATA 120 gig HDDs. 1 “C” drive, 1 Coned as Total HDD back-up, (p.s. Try CasperXP-AWESOME) My ATI problems FORCED ME to do that, No more of this

NOW, IN XP SP1 ( SP2 and / or DirectX 9c seem the ISSUE,ERRORS out or won't change or WORSE puts in another crossbar Driver !! ) you can right click, and upgrade THIS Driver and Re-Install WDM_SP and sometimes WDM_XP. I have ( I did NOT come up with this, Thanks "GOOGLE") Fixed A.I.W. 9600 Pro ( Used CAT 4.10's with MMC 9.02). I have also done this with XP SP2 on P3 600mhz Rage Fury with T.V. Wonder PCI Card "CAT 5.11's and MMC 9.08 !!!). A.I.W Cards are different.I built BOTH PC's ( If you have OEM Sony,Dell, H.P. PC's, GOD HELP YOU

), I also have a still working Sony VAIO P2 266 with OLD A.I.W ATI, I still have it functioning with XP SP1 as well. I say all this as I have SOME practice at these Cards.

I have tried XP SP1,SP2 ( Pro NOT HOME) DirectX 9, 9c, CAT 2.5,4.10,4.12,5.10,5.11 and OMEGA v's of 5.10 and .11, The Display Drivers are NEVER an issue, ALWAYS WDM_NSP and SCREWED. Now further investigation through Hauppauge,YES, I have a couple of those too. NET Framework 1.1 & 2.0 has obvious ties to this issue. This NET Framework 2.0 I understand works with M.C.E. Devices to (among MANY thimgs) makes up for Frame losses while Capturing Video on MCE based Cards. Have YOU noticed Hauppauge Cards are MCE or NON MCE Cards ???, If you Run MCE (Microsoft Media Center) it appears you better have an MCE Card !!!, hummm - WDM_NSP ?????. Look at ebay, LOTS of Hauppauge MCE Cards for SALE ???? .In fact (I can't re-find post,Sorry) A point was raised that A.I.W Cards are NOT MCE applicable !!, T.V Wonders etc CAN BE. Some non-MCE Hauppauge Cards will run if process “ehRecvr” is killed in TASK MANAGER of Media Center OS’s.

“MY” Coclusions, Prove me wrong," PLEASE". A.I.W's NOT compatible with XP SP2, or DirectX 9c - The FIX ?? btw copy, post anywhere to anyone who has the answer, PLEASE. I AM FUNCTIONING GREAT with XP SP1,DX9.0,CAT 4.11(newer Display Driver "MAY" work,CAT 4.11 WDM "Forced WDM_SP", ALL works..

1) ATI has ????, Done ????, Buy a new Card, $$$, BUT, Hummm....Hrs later, Same Prob,worse,no answers, How much...... Can’t put old AIW back either, wtf !!!!!!, YEP, been there !!!!, I have had a $200 phone bill, problem NEVER left, I later found in Google search.
2) OMEGA and RAGE3D are Hopefully our Allies, have a medium for us to communicate, I HOPE
3) The ATI Hardware WHEN correct, Perform VERY well, Drivers, well, that’s another issue, CATS ARE WAY better but WDM......

4) Have you ever sent your Video signal ( PC,DVD,DIVX,TV etc) from you’re AIW to a good Projector to a 90” screen, It is as my wife say's , BETTER than the theater!!!!
5) Too much Art Bell and George Nory I guess BUT, you realize the AIW is pretty potent Video,Player,Recorder,TiVO of sorts. Even on 90’ screen, My Catured Video’s look JUST like Live………… DVD's are stunning.
6) Is there pressure from Motion Picture Society,NASCAP,NAB,RIAA, etc to NOT fix these issues. We are involved in a enormous Multi-Media Revolution and the day of Pay to Play is closer than you think. It is one thing to pay for Cable & Satelitte, Stand by for Pay to Watch, EVEN on Future A.I.W,’s lol, will they even exist.
7) Where do we go from here folks?, I don’t know about you BUT I LIKE MY AIW.
8) Oh yea, I like Playing NFS,Underground,Colin McRae’s 2004&5, Juiced etc with MoMo Wheel ALSO on 90” Screen and sound through Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (cheap,awesome) output through a Carver CT-26v Dolby Pro-Logic Tuner Pre-Amp and to 2 Carver TFM-15c 150w/ch REAL Power Amps to 6cu ft Speakers……. You get my drift. Lets get SOME BODY to help us KEEP THEM.

DRVER HEAVEN, Thanks for doing what you do SO WELL and I hope I’m not offending ANYONE.I WISH TO GOD I could tweak the WDM's. I LOVE my AIW and cannot convey the satisfaction it gives me when running correctly. Do we AIW owners have to SUFFER over a 4 MEG DRIVER FILE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, WDM_WRONG .If you indicate so, I will understand and NEVER post here again. I am only trying to get SOMEBODY’s HELP, SOMEWHERE FOR AIW’s.I am OPEN for suggestions ?? Going to hell.........been there….

not reading that whole thing,but i have a tv wonder pro and was trying to hook the xbox up 2 it but i was getting what i call "local lag" low framerates i soppose....i use dscaler now www.dscaler.org it dosent have any schedueled recording that i know of tho =/

Yea, Dscaler not supporting AIW though, ChrisTV same deal. There appears to be "hardware" detection speaking BIG difference between TV W and AIW. I GOT SP2 to do right with TV Wonder PCI and CAT5.11 !!!!!, AIW - Forget it. Thanks, I might play with X-Box yet !!! lol. My Wifes P3 600 Rage Fury 32meg with TV Wonder works great on XP SP2, GET THIS !!!, NO WDM_SP or _XP EVEN LISTED !!!!!. AIW's mean............

I think BeyondTV worked pretty good for someone I know who had an AiW card.

But buying a 3rd party app for something you paid extra cash to do is ridiculous

I agree !!, You sure can't do latest and greatest Drivers on AIW's, Turn off MS updates, No DX etc, WHEN WORKING, CLONE THE DRIVE OR PAY HELL LATER , I have 3 HDD's,SAME,All 3 have CLONED IMAGES, no more of this B.S.
BEER TIME !!!!!,Can't get MOLSON BRADOOR's here either, Ex-Buffalonian now in Buford GA.
