Is ATI DVD Player PowerDVD ? If so, why is it poor?

I have an AIW 9700 Pro.

I have been looking for a good DVD Playback option for movies. I tried the ATI DVD player. It is the worst of the three or four options that I have. It is a lot grainer and fuzzier. I thought that it was PowerDVD 5 or even 6. VideoLan, and Media Player Classic are better. Even WMP 10 is looking better.

Is my experience unusual?

NOt considering poor quality of the MMC as of late it isn't.

The decoder itself though is amazing
