XP MCE and 9600XT AIW, kills MMC
Alright I've looked around and haven't seen my exact problem, only variations.
So clean install of MCE2005, I put on all the latest MCE drivers and ATI media center components, (I figured out you had to kill the MCE service to be able to use ATI's MMC) The problem is that after like 15 minutes the ATI media center will freeze up, continue to show tv but I can't interact with it and there is literally no way of closing it short of a reset. Other applications such as DScaler also freeze when scanning for channels, though I can kill their processes fine. When I caused a RPC fault on purpose to see if that would shut it down I was told it was the Closed Caption Device that was in use and couldn't be ended. Weird I know, again running a clean install with newest MCE Catalyst drivers, then tried with Omega drivers, no difference. I really don't want to reinstall everything again with XP SP2 so any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Also worthwhile to note that Radio under the XP MCE app apparently scans TV frequencies then will often lock up with similar results to the ATI MMC. Haven't been able to test the MMC Radio in but this is looking like a driver issue :P

You ARE same problem as most others, SP2 and /or DirectX 9C. Look at my posts, SP2 WILL NOT detect OR allow correct WDM_xx Drivers to install. MCE/SP2 same problem, SP1 will install WDM_NSP then you can force "update" to WDM_SP and it will work. I re-installed DirectX-9B "OVER" my SP1 working system last night and NO PROBLEMS. Its screwed up. No responce YET from ATI .
