RMA'ing it should work registered or not. If its defective, they have to return it as long as its under warranty

That's good news. I sent for an RMA on Saturday. 2 days later I'm still waiting. They must be busy making all those 360 chips

I got the RMA from ATI last nite. I checked the serial number and it was a completely different card. I installed it into my VT7 and after a few minutes of drivers being installed. All seemed good. I couldn't get Media Center to recognize the TV Tuner. Off the top of my head there was an error about MACE service or ACE service. I uninstalled the parental encoder and restarted. PC froze at the bios screen. I reset the BIOS and it got as far as the Windows logo and would freeze. After a couple of attempts I finally got it to boot into safe mode. Restarted once again and it booted into Windows. TV Tuner now worked with just the 6.4 Catalyst drivers and the MCE extension. the fuzzy square in ATITool was an average of 279fps but was so choppy it was unreal. I never did run this card with 6.3 Catalyst drivers. The last card ran ATiTool fine on 6.3.
So as not to damage this video card. I give up on this card.
For funsies I tested this card in my aging VP6. 6 year old mobo, dual P3 1GHz. Video card runs like a champ. So from my experience the x800 AIW doesn't like VT7's or IC7-G mobo's. Could it be some incompatibility with 8x AGP? The video card has worked fine in 3 mobo's that are 4x AGP.
The beginning of this post starts with lockup failure. I see myself as a pretty good Googler and lockup failure just isn't the description I would give this error. Searching the web I used terms such as, x800 AIW black screen, or x800 AIW no display video. I think I finally found this post by searching x800 AIW video failure. Maybe when the spiders see these words it will make it easier for other people that may have this motherboard incompatiblity issue.
Trying to prolong this AGP system before I do a full upgrade to PCI-E, I think I will be getting a 7800 GS and a Hauppage Tuner. I will be selling this card on eBay in the next few days and calling this lesson hard learned and great experience. I thank this forum and H3X4D3C1M4L for all the help. I hope someone can learn from this post and not have to go through the agony of possibly throwing almost $300 to the wind! Thank God for ATI's no hassle warranty!
ATI, I'll be back for an x1900 AIW as soon as the pocketbook can afford it!
Thanks.

Well right now its very hot in my house so my temperatures are quite high. On full load I get about 60's on the GPU while playing any game, but then again I have a lot more airflow. But the heat is so bad I HAVE to run the fans on full to keep the system reasonably cool... its getting ridiculous
